How easy is it in practice to use 2 phones with the M-B Bluetooth SAP module?

Had a quick look at the install manual and it seems it will only link automatically to the last phone paired?

Mrs BTB and I share the Vito ... with the current wired cradle it's dead simple - put your phone in and and that's it.

You can pair up to 4 phones. The module looks for the last phone it was connected to. To force it to search for another (already paired phone) briefly press the the star button. It will then connect to the first already paired phone it finds.
It wont do this if it is already connected to a phone you must break the connection by disabling the phone's bluetooth.

Bluetooth module

On a similar note, is it possible to still use a bluetooth headset with a phone and MB Bluetooth module?
The sound through the speakers is fine but apparently reception for the caller is not great with a load of background noise.
Is there another option to eliminate the background noise?
Cheers

Thanks for that. What happens with the phonebook though - does that automatically download from the 'new' phone when it connects?

Mmm... The instructions say the phonebook will be downloaded and replace the original stored in the module but then goes on to say one has the manually initiate the download (press 0000 then ok on the COMAND). So I'm not 100% sure. It may mean the phonebook goes to the SAP but not loaded to COMAND. Sorry not to be clear on this...

OK thanks anyway. Seems bizarre that in order to use the car kit properly you now need
a £350 SAP module, which is functionally far worse than a wired cradle! That's progress, I suppose :(

I don't think you can conclude the BT approach is far worse than the wired cradle. The cradle approach has its advantages, so does the BT approach. A matter of opinion which features are more important.

Today a compromise is unavoidable. BT allows you to keep the phone in the pocket which is not possible with the cradle. But the phone is charged when placed to the cradle which does not work with the phone in the pocket.

Cradle: cost £100-ish, holds & charges phone, can immediately use any compatible phone, access to contacts in any phone as soon as put in the cradle.

BT SAP: costs £350-ish, doesn't hold or charge phone, must manually initiate link to any phone other than the 'primary' one, accessing contacts in multiple phones not instant or automatic.

The 'phone in the pocket' thing isn't really a plus for me. The others are big minuses.

I thought the Bluetooth puck looked for the last connected phone, and when it could not find that then looked for the next most recent phone connected?

I don't think I ever bothered syncing up my partners phone in my old W203, but it's certainly the way the Viseoo works, although it does not seem to download her phonebook. Probably her daft phone though.

As per #2 above you have to push the button to make it do that (the SAP module, anyway). I wouldn't consider HFP ... not point in having a proper car kit with external aerial etc. if it's not going to be used.

HFP is compatible with a lot more than the SAP. The reports I've seen on compatibility would I think put me off. (I did not have the option with my phone at the time anyway).
