Bmw 635

This car is a true classic. The interior of these cars were miles ahead of Mercs in that era.

A time when cars were designed by designers and not computers :)

An M635 is an M6. It was called M6 in the USA, and M635 elsewhere. If your car had a dogleg gearbox, then it was an M6/M635. If it didn't then it wasn't an M of any kind.

I think you will find you are mistaken. The M6 had the 280 bhp M-tec engine, the M635CSi had the standard engine (220??? BHP) but with M suspusion and the dog leg box. If I remember correctly they were only produced for a short while as a cheaper version of the full M6.

I took a while to get used to the dogleg box and the hardest part was when I drove another manual car and kept trying to pull away in 2nd!

I'm not sure what is 'impressive' about it only having been to the dealer once in all it years. I know it's only done 24,000 miles but I would hope that it has had more than just the one service. Er, brake fluid, coolant, never mind engine oil changes!

I concede the point about the dogleg gearbox, becasue I forgot the standard 635 had the Getrag.

However, I don't concede the point about the M635/M6.

As I understood it, the M6 was only offered in the US & Japan whilst Europe had the M635CSi. I believe the US vehicles had a higher standard spec including a fridge, uprated a/c & a fancier stereo. However, whilst the European version produced 282bhp, the US version saddlled with that countries emission paranoia, had its output capped at 252bhp.

This one has high miles, but appears to have been very well maintained & is a much more realistic price.

A lovely car, but overpriced. There are examples just as nice, available for less.

Agree with the points made about tyres, Metrics are very pricey indeed. A set of 17" alpinas will still look period enough to not upset the cars lines, that or a set of Borbet Design B's (the multispoke dip dish affairs).

My XJ40 used to wear Steel, Dunlop TD Metrics (similar to Michellin TRX's, but produced by Dunlop). As soon as I purchased the car, 7 years ago now, the TD's were dumped for a period set of 16" XJR (post 1990 type) rims, which suit the car much better than the Gerry Anderson style steel, with trims TD's!!.

£120 a corner was also a big factor in my decision.

I managed to sell the metrics on for a very good price on ebay too, as they had a good amount of tread remaining!!

There's no doubt that it's the cleanest example likely to be found anywhere. But £15k is a big ask these days for something that only a true enthusuiast of that particular model would ever consider paying.

I remember as a young teen watching Moonlighting just to catch glimpses of Bruce Willis's 6 series.

I used to do the same, a few episodes had quite a lot of the car in.

I think they mean it's only ever been serviced by one dealer - not just serviced once!
