bmw

I was supposed to have a 320d Sport touring auto instead of my current C class.

Pitty they couldnt get me one in time :(

Well, like I say the 330i Sport with the spec I want is a little out of what I would like to stretch to at the moment, but by the time I am really wanting to move mine on, I think prices will be fine.

I think the 330i's performance of 0-60 in 6.5 secs and top wack of 155mph (I will test this on the autobahn!!) will suit. I cant drive one until I have the money (no self control) so I am a little concerned about it's low end torque around town (the 230K's 205 lb/ft torque from 2500rpm up is hard to beat) but I am sure it will be OK and otherwise be a stunner.

An insurance quote has shown only a very slight increase in my premium from my exisiting £550 to about £620, which considering the extra value alone is not bad. A Golf R32 was about £850 and an E36 M3 EVO Saloon £1008, so all round the 330i is not OTT.

Something nice to aim for, while I continue to enjoy my current car.

didn't like how close the clutch pedal was to the foot rest on the side, kept getting in the way when changing gear,(must be my big feet)

I had this problem at the Skid Pan GTG . . . much to everybody's amusement ! Seems to be a BMW "feature" - but I'm sure it works when you get used to it !

I've had this problem with manual BMWs before now as well - quite often used to clip the brake pedal when changing gear in the wifes old E46 Compact (slamming on the anchors didn't do much for the acceleration as it turns out :o )

Best get a SMG car - has a normal size brake pedal and no clutch pedal, so you could be wearing a flipper on your left foot and still drive ok (please note - I haven't actually tried this!!)

I dunno, have had 2 BMW's and don't know what the fuss is about!

At the risk of pushing, Graham, I've found the BMW Land Forum to be an excellent source of info with tips on what to look for etc. Like minded people, similar to this forum, it doesn't actually matter what you've got they'll all help.

i have to say my last car was a 520 bmw 6 cylinder 24 valve sounded absolutly superb the fact i ended up havign a new engine is irrelevent, ive now got a c class 240 which is much better with alsorts of gadgets on, but dosnt quiet sounds as sporty, why is that does anyone no?

Not sure, even the 4 clylinder BMW's have a nice purr!

They are just more sporty, drivers cars all round.

I have an E46 M3 coupe, and if I could afford to I would give it away just to let people use it & understand just how bad & totaly overated these cars are.

Stick with the MB Graham I thought you had grown out of your BMW's

Interesting point of view!

When you are feeling flush enough, may I be first in the queue to have the E46 M3 punishment?? :D

I think the thing is, the grass is always greener and a change is as good as ............(and all that!).

My next car (no rush, but I have started making enquiries, keeping track of prices etc etc) is going to be a E46 BMW 3 Series, probably a 4 door saloon.

Budget contrainsts have made me start looking at the 194BHP 325i Sport, instead of my prime choice a 330i Sport..........

Well I can't be having any of this being chased by oil burers, so the 330i it is!!

cheers guys!! LOL

Are you sure its just because you dont like oil burners or is there something else you need too get off your chest? ;) BMW drivers
