I just got a 1999 CLK cabrio a fortnight ago. The boot has jammed and won't unlock using the electronic or manual key. What's worse is that the roof won't go down because the roof cover has come unclipped. Any ideas? Help. (Bough two new suitcases to go on holiday next week and they are locked inside! - Wife is furious!) Help... :(

same thing happened to my wifes Sl320 R129 last week. had her laptop inside the boot & she needed to use it . after a hour or so parked up she tried again using the cars remote & hey presto the boot unlocked. very weird & it sbeen fine since. Poss water in the electrics somewhere ,thats all I can summise.

Does the manual key turn in the lock?
Its quite common for them not to turn, have a search im sure ive read something about this before.

Is there a procedure in your manual to "resynchronize" the central locking? Usually an odd combination of key/remote operation.

Otherwise trip to dealer beckons.

Satch

The car should be covered by mobilo Life so you could try them or try giving the boot lid a good hard tap in the region of the lock. This worked when my SL boot lock got jammed once.

Thanks for all yourhelp. Just as the dealer was about to smash out my rear light set to gain access he managed to fre it somehow. Never happened since!

Might be worth lubricating the locks just in case....but technically this is definately a mobilo life situation in my book - just call them out - you can't lock the car properly can you ;) !

They are normally very very good people.
