Just looking at brake discs. What make would you recommend (inc pads) ?
I was looking at ATE or MTEC.

Genuine. They are cheaper than you think.

ATE are pretty good though.

Unless you're looking to track day the car stick with MB

If you're considering MTEC, here's what mine looked like after precisely 19 weeks and 1,650 miles:

I did manage to even the surface by purposely using my brakes more, than usual yesterday:

Despite their excellent performance (in combination with Mercedes OE pads), my next discs won't be MTEC!

I fitted MTEC discs to my Jaguar XF, I painted all the parts including the "holes", that a showing rust in the above pictures, however, not to say, the disc's won't be rusting away on the parts you can't see, did perform good and had the looks

Yes, I mostly went for these for their looks (only plain ones available for my A200 from MB), and am going to apply Hammerite to all rusty bits, once the weather is suitable for painting, but it is very disappointing that, MTEC doesn't care enough about their product to rust-proof it better.

Apparently it is common and normal for MB cars to have surface rust on both the original discs (not the friction surfaces obvouisly) and the hub area, as well as the wheel bolts. Or at least that's what the dealer told me when I complained about it (car was 2 years old at the time).

They did replace all the wheel bolts
(including locking ones) under warranty, but only because the surface rust on the bolts was considered an aesthetic issue, while the discs and hubs were not.

To be honest it is not an issue on a C180K with 16" wheels, but I can see why it might not go down well with owners of more upmarket models with 18" or 19" alloys and sport calipers and discs - it would certainly degrade the overall look of the car.

Brembo from euro car parts.
£110 pair fronts with code. Also their stove sprayed in hub and ventilation slots. No corrosion on mine after 2 months of winter

Try GSF they do Bremco and have 42% off everything this weekend and free delivery use code FEB42 .

Michael.

ATE full set discs, pads, sensor and handbrake shoes 240. Mtec same set 196 inc protective coating

Did you pay extra for the protective coating or they are without it?

No, these are just standard ones. To be honest, I never expected them to go rusty like that, and I have recently seen some coated ones, on another forum, and they have rusted through in about same timeframe (i.e 4 months or so), so nowhere near a rust-free option, although I wish I'd taken it anyway.

I'll treat mine with Hammerite, it will be better than MTEC coating, I'm told.

Like I said - it's a shame MTEC doesn't care enough about their product ...

Hmmm still dont know if I should go ATE or MTEC with Mintex pads.

I can't see anything amiss? And considering you don't drive the car, it looks all very normal to me.

I went for ATE. Will see how they will perform
