Can anybody explain how these work/look when undone?

I am assuming I should hold the 14mm hose, and undo the 11mm nut/joint (on top), using flare spanners.

But they will not budge, and seems to twist in the holder, so I undid the holder/bracket for now.

Thanks in advance.

Remove the sprung retaining clip, you can then get a good grip on the union then
undo the hose.

How do I do that, without cutting it off?

When i replaced the flexies on my old Saab i had to use some local heat to free the fitting from the "bush".

On the Saab there were two flats on the bush part that you could get a spanner on to prevent it from turning.

It shouldn't spin in the bracket as there will be either locating flats or splines. Get some mole grips on the bracket holding on the thin edges. 90deg to the flange nut. Bit of wd40 and it will come undone. Clean all rust off first.

What are you trying to do, replace the flexi hoses? If so, cut the hose and slide on a ring spanner and do what Marytz advised.

All done now, I want to keep the hose, and undo all the fittings.

Now all cleaned up and working, the secret for me, was Plusgas a high quality flare wrench, heat and patience. My cheap one was worse than useless.

Rear calipers/disks/handbrake shoes all now replaced.

Good to hear but it was an ideal time to fit new hoses (braided) and worth the cost especially if there are of an unknown age. Anyway, keep up the good work. :thumb:

Very Lucky to get that undone...

After cleaning with wire bush and applying copious amounts of pentrant...

I normally cut the retainer spring, cut the brake hose... Hold the top with mole grips or brake pipe spanner and then undo the 14mm hose with a large impack socket.
Doesnt always work.

It is the best time to replace rubber hoses... just not worth messing with.

I know John, it is still on my to do list, and should be easier now that I have undone them, I just need to pull my finger out and source the parts.

I just need to pull my finger out...

You're not alone, I've been fettling a few cars over the last several months and the amount of time that's swallowed up can be unbelievable, sometimes I'm delighted work gets in the way. Never mind the fact it's far cheaper to go to work. :D
