Breakdowns!!!

1998 E240 Avantgarde - @98,000 miles MAS sensor failed, causing poor running. Car limped to Andy Gayle's where it was replaced.

So it never "broke down" as such, I mean it never left me stranded, it just ran like a dog for about 30 miles.

A couple of months ago we came back from Turkey having left the car for 18 days and the battery was totally flat.

Mobilo life came out within 2 hours and spent the next 3 hours trying to get into the boot. (battery is in the boot)

The boot opening button on the remote wouldn't work because the receiver in the car had no power.
The boot opening switch on the driver's door also wouldn't work.
So why not use the emergency key thing in the remote to unlock the boot and press the boot latch button?
BECAUSE the boot latch button is a switch and the boot latch is opened by an electric motor! DOH!

Mobilo tech then went round the front and said I'll hook up some power to the starter motor to back feed some juice. Only to say when opening the bonnet "Oh shit its a V8. No way I can get to the starter and cos its an S Class I'm not touching any other circuit."

Result. After lots of phone calls by tech to his boss and others, car had to be taken away by recovery truck to Dealer who had it for 3 days. All because of a flat battery.

I take everything back about the superstitous people not posting here. I just suffered "a failure to proceed" this morning. See the wheels forum...
