Broken Blower and Regulator

Hello Good People,

The AC and heating in my C230K Sport (97) stopped working abruptly. I’ve been to a dealer for diagnostics/quote, result is blower and regulator need to be replaced, parts will cost £433, plus labour looking at between £600/£700. Does anyone know a reliable independent that will be able to carry out the same work at a lower cost?

Thanks
B.A

I fitted the interior blower to mine last year, cost was £120, dealer only part. The regulator or resistor attaches to the side and I would have thought would be similar price. Fairly easy to fit, an hour at the most.

I doubt that both are faulty, very unlikely for both to fail. I would try the motor first and see if that fixes it. It is possible to test it yourself quite easily or a good clean of the brushes might revive it short term.

A2028209242 : ELECTRIC MOTOR : EUR 227.22
A2108206210 : BLOWER REGULATOR : EUR 148.49

Doesn't even come to 433 EUR, let alone 433 GBP, I wonder if they just pluck some figures out of the air and then double them! Takes literally about 30 minutes to swap them, check in the HOWTO section for my instructions!

I was speaking to a guy at a local garage and he said it's not that unlikely for both to fail, because the regulator can burn out if the fan's not working properly.

EDIT: moving to electrical section...
