Budget tomorrow

And what hapens to the corrupt ones, off to the lords for more of the same?.

If, in an election, there are 2 candidates, both idiots, how do you stand up and be counted. There should be a third "none of the above" box to tick, rather than a spoilt vote or not voting.

And vote for what? Side A of the coin, or side B? What if I reject the coin, where do I vote then? Which box do I tick?

There is no option to disapprove of power other than to not give their system the assent that participating in it provides. Whether you vote for the winner or the loser you have stamped your approval on the system that produces them and of the actions of the system thereafter.

Quoth:

Authority is coercion. The reason that people hate and distrust it is that it fails to enrich their lives. It circumscribes choice in the name of all kinds of security, but life feels no less precarious because of it. It's opaque and incomprehensible. Its institutions are of a deliberately inhuman scale. There is no social compact. For all the still-mouthed platitudes about participatory politics, people understand that they have no choice in the matter. We don't get to negotiate this contract. There's no mutuality.

There is always the lesser of two evils....;):thumb:

The lesser of two evils is still evil. Would you vote (given the opportunity) for Hitler or Stalin?

I filled up on Sunday in anticipation of the budget, but petrol has been on the rise for a couple of weeks any way so still paid 117.9 for diesel.

I usually keep my tank no lower than 3/4 full. Like to keep it brimmed most of the time just in case I need to dash around and can't be bothered finding a petrol station.

Need to run mine down after this as the dealer called me and promised to fill my tank if I run it dry for saying good things about them in the post sale survey :)

Take the bribe...an MP would.

I intend to :) Nothing bad to say about them anyway, but where I might have just said "good", I will now say "very good" :)

£100 worth of diesel and a free valet is not to be sneezed at!

If I go and que up with all the people filling up there Hyundi i1', smarts, iq's, kia thingys... then I will waste any savings sat in the jam....

Makes me smile people putting £5 or £10 in a car?? it would just get me off the forecourt?

I'm tempted to get a v8 before it really is too late and enjoy it while we can.

*tongue in cheek

and there's part of the problem, some people forget they can turn their engines off whilst waiting in a queue ;)

But does it cost more to fire it up again than to keep it ticking over :D:D

Has anyone got a steer on VED?

Mine's up at the end of the month, so I want to know if I need to make a hasty purchase tomorrow morning or whether I can leave it until the end of the month.

No real information but it isn't going to get cheaper, is it? You can't lose by taxing early but if you wait....????

The budget is tomorrow! Fuel prices due to rise 3p maybe more. Fill up today and avoid the panic buying queueing tomorrow.

BBC News - LIVE: Budget 2010

Another policy confirmation - next month's planned 3p increase in fuel duty will be staged to soften the blow. It will go up by 1p in April, another 1p in October and a final 1p in January 2011.

If the government changes (HOPE!!!) will these stage fuel price increases still happen ior can they be cancelled by the new government? If so, why do they bother to make the statement?

more updates

Acknowledging the toll the recent bad weather has taken on roads - and the explosion in the number of potholes - there will £100m for local road repairs and £285m for motorway improvements and expansion projects, such as allowing hard-shoulder running in busy times.

100m for roads.... which will go to local councils... who will spend it on whatever they fancy. Hint: not roads.

STOP fixing symptoms and start fixing problems, dammit. Make it the contractors' responsibility to do a proper job, make them financially responsible for any future repair deemed to be caused solely by their right to go around digging up our roads. And don't throw £100m of OUR money at it and then expect us to thank you.

As for all the "I can't wait for a conservative government", give me a break - what's different about Dave from PR? Nada.

Fair enough - but what do you suggest we do then? I certainly can't stomach another session of these morons. Who can we vote for that has a half decent chance of kicking these current halfwits up the a**e?!

If your criteria is vindictiveness against the current occupants then it's misplaced, it's the system that's broken (from our point of view), not whichever faction currently holds power.

An entire government that was born with a silver spoon it its mouth helps nobody (unless you went to Eton).
