Picked up my new vehicle on the 21st March. Whilst leafing through the paperwork (although I speak no German) I noticed the build date to have been 25th August 2010. Is this a normal period of time from manufactured date to pick up date, or has it been kicking around the dealership for weeks/months on end???

Mine was registered 08:03:05 and according to the VIN decoder, mine was delivered 16:02:05.
Buried in the paperwork, which I hadn't seen before is a German data sheet which has a date of 05.08.04, so I assume is the build date.
Therefore, mine also hung around for more than 6 months.

The "Delivered Date" on the datacard is when the car was "delivered" from the production line, i.e. the production/build/manufactured date.

Quite normal. I've had cars in the past that have been registered 6 months after being built... as long as they've not been stored in a field like the Fords of old..!

My E320cdi was also registered 6 months after it was made. Does this have any impact on service schedules etc.

If the fuel filter has got to be changed every 4 years for example, is this 4 years from manufactured date or from delivery date?

ASSYST will tell you when to change. It's from PDI when everything is reset.

my Z4 built 09-2005
registered 08-2006

11 months ???#

I was slightly miffed when I noticed because I just assumed it was a facelift model. But after a ten minute search on'tinternet it seems the facelift was nugatory.
