C Class Loss of Power issue

Ok its definitley not the MAF or MAP sensors i got a now Ait Flow Meter (Bosch) fitted it and still having the issue

I hooked it back up to the DAS and there was a new code i dont know if that is a result of me changing the Air FLow unit which was

2355-002 Check system exhaustgas recirculationcontrol-the air mass cannot be regulated. The air mass is too large

never seen this one before the old one still there but the symptoms of the fault have not changed at all.

I did some more tests on the car while i was plugged in i dont know if they mean anything to anyone;

Y27/9 Left ERG test
position 5.0%

Compression test all came in around 280-290ish

I did the Y100/1 Ricght charge pressure positioner what i didnt get there were three options but they all give the same values the three were

1)nothing selected
2)the on/off ratio is set 10% after which the boost pressure drops
2)the on/off ratio is set 90% after which the boost pressure rises

no matter what was selected the enigne was 1400 and boost pressure 1007

is it time to take it in somewhere? i really love the car but not looking forwards to potentially a massive repair bill so hoping someone can piece all this together with an answer

I took it to an indie today who hooked it up to STAR he reckons STAR threw up an EGR Valve fault and he said he had a quick inspection of it and its leaking internally (his words), but he says that this is the cause as its sending misinformation to the MAF

does that sound right, its the first time ive seen the EGR linked to this issue but he is a merc indie and he knows a hell of a lot more about these cars than i do its just i know the erg is about £250 so i dont want to have it done if its wrong

the bit that worries me is i hadnt seen that other error which referes to the EGR until i swapped the MAF, but again im guessing he would know if the problem lay elsewhere

Well i changed the EGR and guess what no chuffin different, great to see the merc indie specialist are on the ball with the beloved STAR machines

i definitely will never buy a merc again i have no love for this car anymore in fact i cant wait to get rid of it.

people mock french cars well ive had several that have never had any issues

absolute sham

Know how you feel, Merc's are shoddy money pits, even the main dealers with STAR don't have a fecking clue when they go wrong, if they have to think outside of the beloved STAR they know sod all. Mechanics or basically fitters, rely too heavily on the poxy diagnostic machine. I think their heads would explode if they had to think.

This will also be my last Mercedes, Toyota next. Ok, no sqidgy dash, but the money has been put into engineering a decent reliable car.

All manufacturers are as bad as each other for engine faults, its just Mercedes add a few extra 0's on the parts costs so it make repairing them too expensive.

Just done a Toyota Corolla engine with bunt out exhaust valves poor design and low grade material is the only fault apparently.

Don't taint all with the same brush.

Hi,

I think code p1400 is linked to DPF sensor that sits behind the airbox.

Did you find the fault?
How's it going?
