C124.... Shortly
Hi.

Has anybody on here put a M117 into a C124?
Just wondering if there's anyone who could carry this out & what the costs would be.
Trying to decide on my next car C126 or C124 V8 swap.

Cheers
Jamie

Its been done to a w201 , so cant see a w124 being a problem especially after a m119 is also one of its homes :)

Tbf tho a 300e 24v lump would be nearly as powerful as a m117

Consider an early M119 as you could use a 400E as a donor as it's a much sweeter engine.

Yeah but it doesn't have the sound or the fact of knowing there's 5+ litres up front.... I think the M119 would be better but the M117 is simpler to install from what I've been able to research (and that's not much) with the new FrankenCIS brought out recently tuning the M117 has never been easier too.

I think a big V8 in the C124 body/chassis would be much fun

I've found M-BV8conversions on the interweb, has anybody heard of them?

I have heard of them and think they have done a few cars. Does not sound like a particularly hard conversion, and you can get a stand alone gearbox controller for the 722.6 box which would be fun.

One this is for sure – someone else will have done it and you need to speak to them. I’d get researching the web first.

I've been looking on & off for the last couple of years but have only found a couple but no one in the UK (there's probably loads but they haven't published anything on the web)
I'm still deciding on wether to go C124 or C126 but thought I'd post on here as there's lots of knowledgeable people on here who can hopefully point me at the right person.

Ease of conversion varies according to model. The W123 has an entirely different engine bay and suspension to the W124 and W201 [190] no secondary bulkheads and a different front cross member. It was never initially envisaged that the W124 would have a V8 engine fitted so fitting one requires extensive surgery to the bulkhead and cross member for starters. You are better off with a W126 which was always designed with V8's in mind.

I've heard different things from different forums but it's been done in the past. I just want to speak to someone who's done it so I know what to expect.

Carat3.6 here would tell you everything you need to know and likely even be able to do everything for you

I've tried sending him a pm but for some reason it's saying it's sent but it's not in my sent box.

I've read his replies to other V8 swap threads & he's very positive about it being straightforward & doable.

He'll see this for sure and will reply

The W123 engine bay is very similar to a W126 and an M116/7 from a W126 should drop in without too much complication. I've seen it done a few times on this side of the ocean.

Thats' what I meant - much easier than a W124. ;)

Good to be you back, where've you been - if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks, busy with a couple of big projects at the moment. TBH I dont check in on this forum alot now, this place is not what it used to be.

Cheers mate but it isn't in my inbox :(
Do I have to have a certain amount of posts before I can receive them? Did you get the one I sent you?

I did send one back, but maybe there is a problem with the settings in your account.:dk: There's a link to my email in my profile, that should work.:thumb:
