C180 komp 2003 idling problem

hey guys,, im having problems with my car at idle. Ive had a diagnostic carried out twice. First time it came up as ignition coil. Tried that, still same problem. second diagnostic, recomended i change the mass air flow sensor. £193.20 later, and it was still not fixed.

any one had this problem or something similar ???

Any ideas, suggestions, Im stuck please help

What sort of problems are you having at idle? does it misfire run rough etc

Was it put on star and what faults were showing up?

hi mate,, its running rough at idle, revs are constantly moving, between 500-1200 rpm. It doesnt seem to be misfiring, when im driving along its fine

If it has a 271 engine in it it could have a split pipe down the side of the engine

not sure what you mean by star ? i had a guy come round with a fancy snap on diagnostic kit/tool,

A star machine is the diagnostic computer that mercedes dealers use

oh,,ok. im not sure which engine ive got, will it be in my logbook?

I don't know about you but we are doing loads of them ATM.

Pipe costs about £7 and is a doddle to fit. The airbox has to comeout and its under there.

Yeah i agree we are doing a lot of them at the moment.

Yeah they arent to bad to fit but according to merc's you are supposed to change all the other bits of the pipes as well but involves taking out the kompressor

one thing i do know, is my engine has the silver top, if thats any use.

yeah it does help as i now think its a 111 engine but blows the theory of a split pipe out the water as these engines dont suffer from it

You need to get it on a Star.

It depends on where you take it. it would be cheaper to take to an independant

it was an independent guy who works for bmw. i paid him £40
