I have a 14K (2005) C220CDI auto estate from new. Every 4th or 5th warm start develops poor fuel consumption, and a smell like burning rubber coming from the exhaust - auto box is also hesitant at the same time. MB recall for a new high pressure fuel pump improved matters a bit, but it still happens. Dealer says he hasn't heard of this problem before and when tested it couldn't find a fault - but didn't drive it for long enough. Logic tells me that fuel oversupply is occurring and being burnt off in the exhaust. Anyone out there experienced the same problem?
