Have many people on the forum had a s204 c350cdi remapped? Ive got a 2010 cdi estate and would like to know of the pro's & cons of having it mapped. Ive been looking at msl as id like the dyno printout to see what it is and has been mapped to.
Cheers

I would imagine it would be like any car with a remap....

Higher insurance costs...

Worse MPG...

Shorter engine life...

Faster acceleration and a slightly higher top speed..

I dont think a Map will increase your insurance by much (if at all). Specially if you notify as enhanced economy rather than performance.

Also, where did you get your information about worse MPG? It increases your MPG as your engine output it enhanced. If then you loose out on MPG, it would only be due to driving more enthusiastically which has nothing to do with MAP but the driver.

Shorter engine life?? really? As above^

Dear, oh dear... :wallbash:

My experience with my CLK 220 CDI after an Angel Tuning remap was better MPG (~10%), no engine issues in over 2 years & 25,000 miles, smoother power delivery across the entire rev range, fewer gear changes, and yes, much faster!

It is surprising how a lot of people just do not like what others have or want!

Some have to take the plunge so others can see what they are missing, but most still don`t listen or don`t want to listen.

I am in my 2nd year of a Performance Remap with Celtic and no running issues at all and for £250 and a 90 minute wait.

I can drive enthusiastically and still get 37mpg.

Or i can drive as normal and still get better mpg than as it was as std...... 45 as against no more than 40.

The Diesel engine is fully forged so can thrive very well on a thrashing to keep things clear.

I have had a map on my previous 320cdi V6 as well as 220cdi and both returned good response with enhanced economy and performance. Torque is available lower in rev range makes V6 drive very very smoothly.

The car in my sig.

2006 C320CDI Sport V6 with 7g and 100,000mls

I have just looked at Celtic for your motor and there are three power output engines for 2007/ 2014

Celtic will give you 290bhp on the first two and on the std. max.272 bhp it will up to 303bhp

Don`t think the figures are hyped up until you try it and the performance 0 to 60mph will prove it!

Ive read that on the 231bhp like mine i'll end up at 280-300bhp. Its the torque that goes thru the roof on em by looks of it.

so yours is pre 2012 car in which case you will acheive 270ish BHP which is 40BHP increase

Torque is the bigger factor in my view as it will keep pulling through gears after map and overtaking becomes soo much fun!!

400 Lbs/ft plus is brilliant. The power of the V6 is very good, far superior delivery than the bmw straight six anytime.

Exactly what i loved in my V6, now i have a 55 amg and a 220 cdi. Turbo spooling sound on the V6 was very very nice, dropping 2 gears and kick down was a brilliant feel. Before i bought my 55 amg, i test drove a few E39 M5's...they simply didnt feel special compared to my 320cdi. i just couldnt take a plunge to give in for M5 (e39).

Then i test drove my 55 and this was the first one i saw and fell in love at first sight otherwise my mapped 320cdi was hard to complete with!! Oh and i had spent good £4000 + on upgrading the audio in it to make it sound classy and clear :-)

Good luck with your map.

My dear friend. The E39 M5 is one of the most spectacular amazing cars ever made.

It is leagues , head and shoulders above any 320/350 CDI.

I am not debating that at all, i was simply saying it felt old and dated compared to my 320CDI and it didnt "feel" any faster than my E class on a normal driving. I know E39 M5 is a true petrol head heaven but it just didnt feel right to me...maybe its because i have been a MB fan :dk:

I know the OP mentioned other mappers he may consider but just to show what Celtic offer, and before anyone says the figures are pure myth or exaggerated
the proof is in the eating!

My model does not have the DPF so perhaps that is one reason i feel the power more?

What i liked about Celtic is they have agents all over the country and can even visit your home to carry out the remap from there computer, of course the price will vary.

I have only mapped 3 litre BMW 3 series before and the difference is utterly night and day - they are 10x better when done and the first thing I would do to any diesel
