Formerly owned by Eric Clapton apparently. Low mileage, 18" Monoblocks, and the MOT history doesn't really have any horrors either, looks like a nice car. Shame about the morgue-spec interior, but I know some prefer that.

Any car fitted with OEM Xenons has to have some form of cleaning system by law, due to dirt potentially altering the way the beam refracts .

That explains it, either wipers or a headlight washer. Does it have a washer too? These cars are just simply over engineered

Yeah there's a washer built in there
too. It's essentially the same system as fitted to the 140 and 124. The 208 and 210 had switched to the concealed system by '97, but I think due to the 202 probably never being engineered with Xenons in mind adopted the older type .

Purchased via eBay and he's given it a full month to figure out it's a lemon ! Can he make a small profit though ?

It's the age old problem, adjusted for inflation these cars were the best part of £80k new and still come with those running costs.

Then there's their iron oxide addiction to consider. Even the tiniest, immaculate example will need bodywork attention at some point, it's inevitable. Mine is just starting to bubble around the arches and doors in places, and was subject to a massive restoration at a classic Ferrari specialist in 2016. That's something I'm going to have to sort through winter and spring for next year.

I love the W202 in general, and have had a passion for the C43 since I was a snot-nosed schoolboy, but they're a commitment rather than an investment, and need constant TLC to keep them in top shape. Anyone who purchases one not realising that is in for a bit of a shock I think.
