C43 AMG w202 estate

It's the age old problem, adjusted for inflation these cars were the best part of £80k new and still come with those running costs.

Then there's their iron oxide addiction to consider. Even the tiniest, immaculate example will need bodywork attention at some point, it's inevitable. Mine is just starting to bubble around the arches and doors in places, and was subject to a massive restoration at a classic Ferrari specialist in 2016. That's something I'm going to have to sort through winter and spring for next year.

I love the W202 in general, and have had a passion for the C43 since I was a snot-nosed schoolboy, but they're a commitment rather than an investment, and need constant TLC to keep them in top shape. Anyone who purchases one not realising that is in for a bit of a shock I think.
Certainly the mot history of T287 KNV seems to reflect the typical tinworm issue.
Such a shame for a premium marque, but these cars are getting long in the tooth now so it probably should be expected.

Just part and parcel of that era of M-B unfortunately. The transition to water based paint was clearly a struggle, plus the rumour of cheap steel sourced from Russia at the time. Haemorrhaging cash trying to keep Chrysler afloat didn't help either. As you say though, the earliest cars are 26 years old now, long in the tooth. I've always been a fan of the entire range of "rust era" Mercs though so I'm kind of used to it 😂.

It doesn't help matters that our local authorities are obsessed with throwing salt all over everything for 6 months of the year either 🤦🏼‍♂️

Presumably A10 RWD back up for auction on eBay.

Plenty of estates available at the moment!
Tried to get a chance to view it, when it was previously advertised, had some questions etc, but I wasn't worthy any response. Keeping this in mind, the whole concept of nonrefundable £500 sounds a bit suspicious

Could be, although a lot places seem to demand a deposit within 24hrs too, so tough to call.

Interior-wise it looks somewhat unloved and does no-one have a Hoover/Shark/Dyson/other brand vacuum cleaner these days??
Interesting selection of motors in the background - he also has an Allanite Green SLK32 on the bay of dreams

It's often amazing what little effort people put in to photos when they sell a car, even dealers!
