Certainly the mot history of T287 KNV seems to reflect the typical tinworm issue.It's the age old problem, adjusted for inflation these cars were the best part of £80k new and still come with those running costs.
Then there's their iron oxide addiction to consider. Even the tiniest, immaculate example will need bodywork attention at some point, it's inevitable. Mine is just starting to bubble around the arches and doors in places, and was subject to a massive restoration at a classic Ferrari specialist in 2016. That's something I'm going to have to sort through winter and spring for next year.
I love the W202 in general, and have had a passion for the C43 since I was a snot-nosed schoolboy, but they're a commitment rather than an investment, and need constant TLC to keep them in top shape. Anyone who purchases one not realising that is in for a bit of a shock I think.
Such a shame for a premium marque, but these cars are getting long in the tooth now so it probably should be expected.
