1998 c250 estate.. my weekend car
right i took my life in my hands today and though sod it here goes..
first of all i slowly took off the back cover then the base cover from one of the front c43 amg seats ive just bought. Having never done this i just kept saying to myself if it was put together then it MUST come apart.. but will it be the same as my sports seats..!!
well i can confirm they are, i had to punch a small hole in the side of the leather for the manual twist grip and the rear back bit wasnt 100% tight so as you can see in the picture ive tightened this with cord. all went back ok and now i have a manually operated seat with C43 black and grey leathers... super duper...:bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

Cracking job well done but in the first pic the seat looks twisted? or is it just the angle?

Tony.

no just the angle.... i do have 1 problem though.. i thought the passenger occupency thingy would be the same but the c43 has 3 wires where mine has 2... now i have the srs light on...dam.!!! dont really want to strip the chair down again.. i guess this just means the air bag wont go off on the passenger side..correct..

well just stripped my old seat down and found the occupency thingy so i guess the c43 seat will have to come out again and i will have to strip the base down again...aarrgghhhhh.... well i suppose you live and learn.. either do it right or dont bother i suppose...:)

1 down 2 to go

Never been brave enough to take the covers off of my seats, respect, but the picture showing the back of the seat does,nt look right, the way you have it now, I reckon the cover will tear very quickly where you have the cord secured.

did think that myself but ive only put the same amount of strain on the material as it would have been tucked into place. the back is a doddle to get off so when i take the seat out again will re look at this.. its a learning curve eh...

Could you not of put it back as it came off of the 43 seat?

only just taken it out of my old seat as i though the c43 seat was the same, stupid mistake as i should have checked the wiring before hand, not a problem though as i will take it apart again tomorrow.. good practice :)

so looks like ive got a full set of amg door cards spare and all the motors from the bottom of the seats too, these must be worth something to somebody eh.. noticed on ebay those little motors were selling for £60 each ouch...:)

ah see what you mean andy, no when i did this it seemed a little loose really, not as tight as the black leather ones i took off, might be something to do with the ortho side of things as they had small air bags in them to inflate and deflate..the side bolsters. as they are at the moment they are exactly the same shape and feel as the standard sports ones i took off

so today i re did the passengers seat base and added the correct sensor, no srs light on thats good..!! so though right lets get the drivers seat done. well this took a total of 35mins to unbolt the seat, strip the leather and put the c43 leather on in its place and bolt the bugger back in... very very happy with myself too... now for the rears ...gulp..

now for the rear seats, took the rear backs apart yesterday and yes there is quite a big difference from the estate and the saloon. my heart did sink a little.. :( so i took the lot down top a local upholsterer to have a look at, after a short discussion he said yep thats not a problem we can do that for you....!!!

so heres my merc at the moment with no rear seats..ha.... watch this space for the completed leathers.. gonna take a few weeks as they are very busy ;)

Great too see you took it on it will look great with the two time interior you must be happy you have changed the car totally for the better
I hope it puts a smile on your face every time you drive it

You should sell the motors easy I would say and your old interior

I'm looking for passenger door speaker cover rear as mine has a crack in 43

Drop near mail if you want to sell it thx

well ive got all the leathers from the black sports front seats and a rear base bench seat spare now. the rear upper seats will be butcherd to use with the existing amg replacement ones :) got a speaker but at the moment it looks like i may have someone who is going to buy all 4 door cards as the front ones have the carbon inserts in them and the electrical switches. will see what happens cheers

Fair play for taking this on, it's a shame you can't get the orthopaedic to work as its such a good feature and the difference is night and day.

thats ok when i buy myslef a c43 in a few years it will be fitted as standard i hope...lol...
to be fair i just wanted the colour change and the seats are very comfy too.
