My next project is to put the 5.5 lump in my C43 which is pretty straight forward. I want to put the e55 tiptronic gear box together with 5.5 engine my question is would this be straight forward? I personally think it should be pretty easy what do you guys thinks?

Olly and Jack from Prestige Car Service.. they do these conversions for breakfast! :)

Yes they do but i don't think they have put a tiptronic gearbox in a c43 i could be wrong

Im sure Olly will pick up this thread and give the right advice.

Olly used the original C43 gearbox, i have thought of doing the same thing as you.
You would need the Tip gearbox, gear selector, instrument cluster, gearbox control unit and maybe wiring harness ?

Justin i knew olly used the c43 box. My views are aslong the gear box is not different in size shouldn't be a problem. Definatly would need gear selector ecu and I'm unsure on the wiring harness

Have been thinking about this one myself, additional wiring, will be needed apart from the other obvious bits (Gearbox, Torque Convertor, gear selector), you will need a new cluster as well (gear indication), source your parts from a CLK55, then you should have no issues with the gearbox fitting the 202, also if a modified prop is required the CLK one should fit.

You may also need a new ignition switch too. Call me if you want advice. I'm up to my neck in work ATM.

Andy the wiring would i need wiring from gearbox ecu to the gearbox? Is there any difference between the clk 5.5 and e55 5.5 engine? I was thinking the tiptronic boxes are same

Thanks to olly for his advise i am still unsure to go with e55 or clk55 at the moment

The reason why I suggest the CLK box as the ratios on the auto box will be more suited to the 202 and as a 208 is essentially a 2 door 202 all the wiring will be the same.
I was going to buy a complete donor vehicle as I knew of an accident damaged one, and do a full conversion ie diff and drive shafts though this would of involved modifying the floor pan.
Once the box is fitted I believe you will have to do a bit programming on STAR ie tell the car it now has a tip gearbox.

Whilst talking to olly he said the e55 is faster than the clk55. Andy i know what you saying about the clk it would be more straight forward. My thinking is if am going through all the trouble of putting the engine in i would put the quicker one. Yes ollly mentioned about star it would need coding
