C55 Estate rear center seat belt stuck

The rear center seat belt is stuck (will not unwind) on my C55 Estate. IF I lower the seat I can release the tension on the belt, but it will still not unwind. The car is level and I have tried talking nicely to it and offering it nice passengers to wrap around all to no avail.

Any clues how I can get it to release?

The car is a 2004 W203 55 estate. Oh. and the belt was working previously.

Was this before or after the incident with the uninsured driver?

Could be a safety thing?

Well the problem is I hadn't used it for such a long time so I can't tell how long it has been stuck. Good call from you though.

Would it trigger the mechanism to lock on just the center belt though?
