C63 AMG Build Date...whoop whoop!

That is weird that it is Bremen. I thought all C63's were built in Stuttgart. You are getting the Estate correct? I had heard rumours they have moved the build of those to Bremen.

Yes it is an estate. Maybe that is the reason.

Either way, collection is cancelled and it looks like the car will be in the UK mid-March. Fingers crossed sooner then the current date they are showing :)

Thanks. I have Tracker fitted to 2 other cars but neither have on-line tracking or tell you where the car has been. I'll call and ask about the Tracker solution that offers this to see what it can do. There is no real info on the website.

My C63 is/was due to be delivered on 16th March, however I've just received the following update, I wondered if any of you who are also awaiting your C63's that are being delivered in March have had any information on this?

"I've just spoken to MBUK. The factory has apparently "run out" of code 275 (memory package for front seats), which, although you haven't actually specified, is standard on the C63 AMG. As a result anything with that code on it has now been delayed and, unfortunately, they don't have an expected build date for us yet. Needless to say MBUK are dealing with (screaming at) the factory as we understand exactly what this means to our customers but I'm afraid, for now, the only answer I can give is that I'll be back to ASAP with an outcome."

This of course may not delay the car much or at all, depending on the delivery of the custom C63 seats.

Hmmm...........

At least you know who'll be front of the queue :thumb:

Good example of professional Customer Service anyway - which dealer? Or MK?

tell them you expect MB to pick up any increased road tax costs.

but as you say, C63 seats are completely different to standard so should not be affected

Mmmm....I'm not too happy at the moment. The official build date for my car is the 27th March and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that I won't be collecting it and getting registered in the UK before the 1st April

Now, my dealer is trying to get this moved forward a couple of weeks (at least thats what I'm being told) but in reality, I don't expect this to actually happen.

My factory collection details from MB HQ has also now arrived saying collection will be around the 15th April as long as there are no unforeseen delays so this doesn't help the situation at all when it comes to getting it registered before the dreaded ****ty crappy £950 tax has to be applied!

My dealer hasn't told me anything about any further delays so hopefully the missing memory seat parts won't affect our C63's!

As suggested in the immediately above post - push for a corresponding discount from the dealer / MBUK for this additional cost due to their negligence.

If they get tetchy, threaten to cancel ;)

Re Delivery Dates:

You'll get a build decade once you have an order number.

Phone the factory directly (they all speak English) - ask to speak to the customer collection center. Give them the order number, they can give you the exact predicted build date.

If customer collection, I've had it ready 7 DAYS after the build date, sometimes quicker. 7 days is the minimum, if you are nice enough then they'll call you and try to do it faster.

MB Customer Services in Germany is something else.

HOWEVER

The above is all true if you are arranging your own collection (perhaps for an import <ahem>)

If MB UK are arranging it, and they are very good, they will err on a margin of about 4-5 weeks, so they can confirm your flights, book preliminary hotels etc, all at a cheaper price. Plus they can then be 100% certain the car will be ready.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think you can get the car registered ahead of the date, provided you have the chassis no, and the engine no.

I know I did this with imports, but critically you also need the CoC (Certificate of Conformity - excuse spelling). It's highly unlikely it would need to be inspected and therefore it's just paperwork.

Dealer can easily do this via the local VRO, as can you. Factory would have allocated the VIN many weeks ago, along with the engine no. You could call on the build date to get the details.

Fact is - MB can sort this and avoid the April 1st issue, if they really want to. You may not have the car, but it should be registered, and you'll avoid the £950 stealth tax.

Just a thought.

I have been told by my dealer that if the car does come in after the 1st April that I won't have to worry about any increased road tax if delivery runs into April.

I was told that a couple of months ago.

Haven't heard anything about the memory seat issue at all. Conversation this week with dealer regarding my build date of 3rd March didn't contain any mention of this. Still looking at 23rd March delivery to dealer.

My dealer also has mentioned nothing of the memory seat issue to me and the build date is still set as the 27th March - it might only affect estates (Maff has ordered an estate I think?) and these are built at a different factory :dk:

Not good news, I suggest you get your dealers to contact MB UK for the update, or wait for the offical info:

I've spoken to MB head office again and they say that other customers can only have been quoted the delivery date that is currently appearing on the same system (CAESAR) that we use here at xxxx(dealer), however, at this stage it seems that the info given is not necessarily reliable.

They've had no further update from the factory on the shortage of stock yet but say they will be contacting all of the UK dealers who currently have customers that are affected by this issue as soon as they know more.

I'm so sorry that I can't be of any futher help at this stage but if you can just bear with me I will be back to you ASAP with details as they become available.

palmball nice to see somebody else quite young who owns a c63

:D I reckon the C63 is aimed exactly at my age group - much like M3's, RS4's etc. Are you a mere nipper too chiefski?

Even funnier is I probably look a good 5-6 years younger than I am (I still get ID'd occasionally ) so it probably looks like I drive my dads car!

Thanks for the update. Mine is supposed to be built this week.

So basically no one knows what's going on? They don't know if the info is reliable or not? Or if parts are now in stock, or if they are not and when they may be coming in?

They are, but so few people in the lates 20's early 30s can afford such a car unless they have done very well very quickly. I was ID'd the other week on Valetines day

I am 25 consider myself very lucky to have a used 211, it isnt aimed at my age group and I get the "dads car" joke but I do not care as I like the car very much

Me too :D
