C63 amg dr520/ help with wheel refurb please :(

Good offers on the E63 as well now as they are not selling.

Funny how the 30bhp increase on the C63 performance pack only shaves 0.1 off the 0-60 but a further 30bhp on the DR520 shave a further 0.4 off the 0-60 time.

That is a good point - I can't see the DR520 (or my car once it has the Brabus kit in a couple of weeks) being the best part of 10% quicker to 60mph....it still has the same traction and gearbox after all.

Indeed, after my ride in an E63 a couple of weeks ago, I really noticed how good the MCT transmission in it is compared to the Speedshift in the C63 - the gearchanges were very fast - very much like a DCT gearbox. This alone should give the E63 an much bigger accelerative advantage over the C63 than a few extra HP??

I've never driven a new e63 or a normal C63 but the DR520 was very quick and I did a standing start and I personally think it will easily tap 60 in 4.1, I have no doubt about that...

The way the speedo moves was unreal

HERE IT IS.. CLICK ON THE VIDEO ;)

Josef, I used a company in Birmingham but that was to refurb a full set. It sounds like you just want one wheel done in which case a mobile wheel refurb would be more convenient. How much damage is on the rim? Any chance of a picture?

.

Here is an image of the scuff, it's only round the edge of the wheel but it's really annoying me:(and the sooner I sort it the better...

(sorry if it's dark, I just took it quickly in my garage)

EDIT; I just spoke to one of these guys (Dave) are they any good? has anybody used them before? he has quoted me a rather high price, £70+V.A.T?

http://www.kwicksilverautoworks.co.uk/

he said he can do it same day maybe next day..

Kwicksilver Autoworks - wheel repairs, car servicing, valeting

he said he can do it same day maybe next day..

The edge of your rims look polished / diamond cut?

If so, I don't believe many mobile refurbishers will be able to repair that. Most of the mobile wheel refurbs are 'smart' repairs where they just paint the front surface of the wheel.

Yea Naj they are diamond cut wheels, so hard finding somebody who does them.

As soon as they hear the wheels are dimond cut they pull out..

I'm taking it to them guys tomorrow http://www.kwicksilverautoworks.co.uk/

they said they can do it, hopefully they will do a good job.. but if anybody on here knows any body who does them then please let me know.. :)

If you don`t get any luck, let me know.I`m getting my alloys back from refurbers tomorrow from a place in Gravesend and they do diamond cut

Thanks buddy, will do!

btw do they come to you? or do you have to take it to them? do they have a website?

I used these guys for both my CLK and SLK and they did a stunning job.:thumb:
They offer a whole range of finishes as well as OEM. (Check out their website). If you are having all four done they can turn them around in a day, so you could go into Portsmouth or Southampton and make a day of it.

IIRC the MCT replaces the torque convertor with a "wet clutch" system.

The SLS has a proper dual clutch system made by getrag-its the same unit found in the Ferrari California.

I wonder when AMG switch to the 5.5litre twin turbo V8 will either a DCT or a wet clutch MCT system be used.

It seems a shame that the AMG varients have the same 7g box thats in other normal mercs. The MCT or a DCT would give the car another technical advantage.

And they should really just throw in the slippy diff for free. Actually they should do this on 6clyinder cars as well.

I used those guys a few times when they were at their old site. I had some diamond cut Audi wheels done, they just skimmed the edge while I waited. I was very pleased but it was almost 10 years ago, presuming it was the same outfit.

Hi, guys, many thanks for all who tryed to help out, i've sorted it all out now with Kwicksilver Autoworks Kwicksilver Autoworks - wheel repairs, car servicing, valeting they are top guys and know what they are doing.

Cost me £77 which is reasonable considering how quick they did it (3 hours)

now it looks like the other 3 wheels, brand new:)

There was a black SLR:D and a Bentley! SLR was Simon Jordan the crystal palace chairman and the Bentaly was some fulham football player!

Glad you got it sorted out Josef. £77 for refurbing a diamond cut wheel seems reasonable too and all in 3 hours.

Not bad.

Glad its done now Josef. And yes thats not a bad price considering they did it in only 3 hours.
