C63 Estate Ordered!

Hello chaps,
Just found this forum, been trying to find more info on C63 Saloon as I am looking into one of these. Seems I have come to the right place!
Went to MB Brooklands yesterday to look at C63. Salesman as clueless as I remebered from my previous buying attempt there...He did tell me the C63 had 600bhp
Hands down the least professional salesperson I dealt with in years, he configured cars writing on sheet of paper due to VAT change...
Anyway I was told now that all AMG models are built to order and it takes 5 months, so earliest delivery would be May. He also said that AMG cars will have no discount nor any offer, a quick look at few well known car brokers had already proven that to be wrong...
2 Qs: U guys have about 3-4 months lead time on your orders? and 2. anybody can recommend a decent MB dealer in Surrey?

Try Lookers in Redhill and speak to Philip. He's an old school salesman that's been there for 30 years, He listens to you and tailors things to your request. I found all the new boys pushy/annoying.

Purslow in Guildford are pleasant to deal with - only used them for service but mostly good things written about them on here.

Thanks guys for the advice, much appreciated.
@mw_C32: thanks for the details, not planning to get PP, agree with you, I want to keep the ride decent and not sure I would notice the extra 40bhp.
@scumbag:agree with all you said, not quite sure what the angle of MB Brooklands is, nice to be able to see all the cars in the range but if the salesperson are numb nuts, kinda kill the point...Think 5-6% off is likely the best I can achieve with a decent dealer. Brooklands did offer a test drive, thought it could be fun in the snow :) Track hadn't been cleared on Saturday so will try that in a week or 2.
Great forum BTW fellows, good to see the MB UK community is lively

The Focus is going (anyone want one?). This is to replace the Focus. The Focus replaced a Audi RS4 Avant (B7) before that. The Audi had all kinds of issues (was an ex-demo, BTW) and I wanted out before the warrenty expired, and the only car that I could think of to replace it with was the Focus RS at the time. However the wife hates it, and with it being the car she mainly drives, she said she wanted rid and wanted another "nice" car. After a bit of arm twisting (her twisting mine) we agreed on the C63. The only real reason for my hesitation is the auto box, and the fact that I am the one who always filling the car up ;) So not looking forward to the extra visits to the pumps :)

Really looking forward to the car now though. Especially the collection and subsequent 'Ring trip on the way home :)

Cayman is definitely staying. Just put some Conti WinterContact tires on for the snow and it feels awesome now. Even in this weather. Snow covered 20% inclines not a problem :)

As for deals, well, I got a kind of "back-handed" discount.

Because I placed my order in November and the car is being delivered in March, the car was supposed to be subject to a 1.4% price increase and a 2.5% VAT increase on top of that. Got those deducted, plus £800 discount, plus guarantee that if the car came after April '10 that I won't be paying the new salesroom tax.

Jack

PS Bought this http://twitpic.com/xj345 yesterday to sate the V8 thirst in the short term :)

Brooklands is useful to test drive a particular model as they have most in stock, albeit not exact, then if the service is bad, simply order from preferred dealer. This approach worked great for my E Coupe - got to rip one round their track and local roads, then ordered elsewhere...

My C63 has just been given a build date of 1st March, so not that long now!! :bannana:

As Scumbag said the C63 is built in batches, and it depends how many orders MB receive as to which build batch you go into, so in some cases a 5 month lead time is possible.

Including scrappage allowance my discount came to just over £4k off of a list price of £63,260

Regarding the Performance Pack, from 1st December this no longer comes with the hard suspension (even though MB's website says that it does, I have an email direct from AMG confirming it does not), it is the same 'standard' C63 normal suspension.

My Demo car had the optional hard suspension and it was *very* hard, more so than my 599 on its hardest setting!

Good to see my taxes going where they're needed...

Don't worry, with ~£10k VAT, ~80% tax on fuel we'll get the money back off Maff sooner rather than later :)

you beat me too it, his VAT pays his scrappage allowance never mind all the daft co2 based VED, at least he is safely above 225g/km so his top band tax disc is good value for money as so much CO2 is emitted his £ buys more "carbon dioxides"

Hope you get your C63 registered before 1 April 2010 to avoid the £950 showroom tax

It would be nice, as it means an extra £530, or a 0.83% increase on the vehicle purchase price, as the showroom tax includes VED for the first year, which is already £420.

PS. Remember the scrappage scheme was introduced to help the dealers and car manufactures sell their cars, of which I am helping with my new car purchase.

If you can't see what my problem might be with your use of the scheme then I'm not likely to get very far with this...

Enjoy your AMG.

A saving is a saving at the end of the day, I pay my tax just like you do, thus I am entitled to take advantage of the scheme just as much as the next person, regardless of any status.

There is already increasing progressive taxation in the UK ..

Why should scrappage be income or asset dependent?

You must have forgotten to mention your 10 year old Micra in your sig...

Nope, it just lists cars that I drive myself, not cars that I own but have loaned to family or various other company cars that I also own for the matter.
