Wow!! Would you believe it! It's actually near me!! I'll be there!! And I know some very very good roads round there if anyone fancies a decent drive.
Wonder if there is anything on at Anglesey circuit on the Saturday?!?
It's not often that I get opinionated but in this case I'm going to make an exception!
I am surprised at this argument - it's fundamentally flawed as anyone has the right to claim what they are entitled to. So, if I was in the position described above, then YES I would take the unemployment benefit as long as I was legally entitled to it...why not? Just like Maff is legally entitled to use the scrappage scheme as he is the registered keeper of a car that is eligible for the scheme. If the government didn't intend for the scheme to be used in this way then it should have been more careful when implementing it...so there is no reason to chastise Maff for doing what he is legally and morally entitled to do.
+1
Sorry for adding to it; the above is my first and final opinion on the subject!
Now, back on-topic!
The car is fantastic and I wish I had waited just that little wee bit longer so I could have known about the PPP option - I might have been a little more patient and waited for one! Oh well, I'll have to stick with my slow under-powered non PPP C63 - with just the old Performance Pack, mine also has the rock-hard suspension (yes, I agree, it is extremely hard!!).
cpd1 - With regards to deal, you should be able to get 5% with no problem whatsoever - do not buy one without at least 5% off!! I reckon 8-10% is out there but will require some resilience and patience. Just remember, potential C63 owners are not exactly common so when someone obviously serious comes along, a decent salesman/dealer should not lose your business.
And, yes, some car salesmen are such ill-informed pain in the ****s to deal with so if you can't build a good rapport with them, go elsewhere; indeed, one of my regrets about moving away from BMW was that I got on so well with the guy at the BMW dealer who never fed me any bull and always knew he had to 'work' to get my business.
Also, it's great to see more C63 owners on here. So far, I think I can count the following as fellow current or potential owners....
Scumbag
mw_c32
Jack Wood
Maff
cpd1?? (Come on...you know you want to!)
Palmball (me)
Are there anymore out there??
At this point my biggest issue with C63 is stopping at a petrol station every 3 days with my 50 mls commute
Depends on the route and how you drive. Given the right traffic you should see 28mpg so you could make a week out of it.
I was seeing 28mpg pretty much consistantly with motorway speeds.
round town, stop starting however is a totally different story. I average here 15.6mpg.
Next UK visit and I will have a go at getting a consistant +30mpg. I saw it a few times on the dash, but then idiotic drivers, roadworks and weather prevented a decent run.
I have to try to beat the 35mpg I got out of AMG55 a few years back.
Surely if you've got to hypermile a C63 to make it worthwhile, you might as well have a different car for the commute...
I guess the thing is, you don't buy these cars if your primary feeling is based on economy. That said, if it is an only car, and it can achieve good mpg based on normal driving ( and does anybody really drive flat out all the time?) then it isn't so bad.
it maybe extreme in one sense (0-60 under 5sec etc etc) but it can move 5 people and luggage, or in my return trip case, it was filled to the roof lining front to back (and got twice the load of the last car).
seems to be a good compromise to me.
others have differing needs and therefore have to make choices based on circumstances, but I guess the fact that you drive them sensible allows them to be factored in.
for the record, it did 1512 miles and used 319ltrs which I calculate to be about 21mpg.
For a car with a 6200cc engine 21mpg is pretty good.
Forget the costs, just enjoy it.

costs?
no road tax, no VAT, 98RON 86p a ltr, free parking! what costs?
