C63 Estate Ordered!

depends how proud you are!

Bob scrawled his name on mine as I had specially cleaned it for him, with road grime.

so no. as long as it's there.

Matt would be banned from bringing anything other than his c63...nobody likes a show off.

Sounds like a plan - if we get all known C63's together on the forum for a day it should make a bit of an attraction - clean or dirty!

Now have build date: 17th March

Should be able to collect before the end of the month :D

Wow!! Would you believe it! It's actually near me!! I'll be there!! And I know some very very good roads round there if anyone fancies a decent drive.

Wonder if there is anything on at Anglesey circuit on the Saturday?!?

Yep, I'm up for that!

Where in Cheshire are you from Jack?

Between Knutsford and Maccesfield.

But Plans were scuppered last night by the realization I will be in Corsica until that Sunday. :( Looks like I won't be able to make it after all :( So typical.......

Palmball,

Don't you worry I am thinking about it seriously. Didn't have much time over the past week to think about it but seems that there are few demo cars around, might save me the hassle of waiting for few months...
Wihtout mentioning the fact these should be off 10-15%, clearly I would prefer a car to my spec but to be fair they all seem to have fairly similar specs. I wouldn't go for PPP anyway.
Funny what you say about BMW dealer I am in exactly the same situation hence why I bought 6 over the past 10 yrs...Sad I know

At this point my biggest issue with C63 is stopping at a petrol station every 3 days with my 50 mls commute

It's not often that I get opinionated but in this case I'm going to make an exception!

I am surprised at this argument - it's fundamentally flawed as anyone has the right to claim what they are entitled to. So, if I was in the position described above, then YES I would take the unemployment benefit as long as I was legally entitled to it...why not? Just like Maff is legally entitled to use the scrappage scheme as he is the registered keeper of a car that is eligible for the scheme. If the government didn't intend for the scheme to be used in this way then it should have been more careful when implementing it...so there is no reason to chastise Maff for doing what he is legally and morally entitled to do.

+1
Sorry for adding to it; the above is my first and final opinion on the subject!

Now, back on-topic! :D

The car is fantastic and I wish I had waited just that little wee bit longer so I could have known about the PPP option  - I might have been a little more patient and waited for one! Oh well, I'll have to stick with my slow under-powered non PPP C63 - with just the old Performance Pack, mine also has the rock-hard suspension (yes, I agree, it is extremely hard!!).

cpd1 - With regards to deal, you should be able to get 5% with no problem whatsoever - do not buy one without at least 5% off!! I reckon 8-10% is out there but will require some resilience and patience. Just remember, potential C63 owners are not exactly common so when someone obviously serious comes along, a decent salesman/dealer should not lose your business.

And, yes, some car salesmen are such ill-informed pain in the ****s to deal with so if you can't build a good rapport with them, go elsewhere; indeed, one of my regrets about moving away from BMW was that I got on so well with the guy at the BMW dealer who never fed me any bull and always knew he had to 'work' to get my business.

Also, it's great to see more C63 owners on here. So far, I think I can count the following as fellow current or potential owners....

Scumbag
mw_c32
Jack Wood
Maff
cpd1?? (Come on...you know you want to!)
Palmball (me)

Are there anymore out there??

Depends on the route and how you drive. Given the right traffic you should see 28mpg so you could make a week out of it.

I was seeing 28mpg pretty much consistantly with motorway speeds.

round town, stop starting however is a totally different story. I average here 15.6mpg.

Next UK visit and I will have a go at getting a consistant +30mpg. I saw it a few times on the dash, but then idiotic drivers, roadworks and weather prevented a decent run.

I have to try to beat the 35mpg I got out of AMG55 a few years back.

Scumbag thx for the reply.
Commute is 15 mls fast A roads then 8 mls central London, way in early in the morning, no traffic but still traffic lights, sadly :D
Used to do 19mpg with 997 C4S overall, with Audi 3.0 TDi doing 35mpg in the morning.
Evening, now whole different story, fair bit of stop and go, usually struggle to break above 31-32 in the diesel.
Clearly cost is one factor but more annoying is visiting my local Shell station every 3 days. Encouraging you can break above 20mpg in av tho

ah....your stop start and city commute is going to destroy the mpg.

could be worth slinging away the spare wheel and putting an LPG, or equivilant, tank in for city commutes. that should pretty much half the cost of the stops.

i was pleasantly suprised at how consistant it was at a steady between 65-80 ish. for about 45miles it was doing 28mpg at an average of 69mph.

a 1200miles trip averaged above 20mpg. not done the full calc for it yet.

Surely if you've got to hypermile a C63 to make it worthwhile, you might as well have a different car for the commute...

Ouch... just run some numbers:

Car PPM Miles over 4 yrs Total cost Tonnes CO2 (should anyone care)

C63 0.7868 80000 62944 26.08

C63 1.1439 40000 45756 13.04
V50 0.39 40000 15600 7.36
Cost for running 2 cars 61356 20.4

Thats running 20k miles / yr, either all in a C63 or split between a C63 and a Volvo V50 D5 estate auto. The numbers are even wilder for a cheaper car and include depreciation but not insurance...

Biggest shock was how cheap the C63 is to run on a 4yr 80k mile cycle. And the more miles you do in the Volvo the more money you save!

I guess the thing is, you don't buy these cars if your primary feeling is based on economy. That said, if it is an only car, and it can achieve good mpg based on normal driving ( and does anybody really drive flat out all the time?) then it isn't so bad.

it maybe extreme in one sense (0-60 under 5sec etc etc) but it can move 5 people and luggage, or in my return trip case, it was filled to the roof lining front to back (and got twice the load of the last car).

seems to be a good compromise to me.

others have differing needs and therefore have to make choices based on circumstances, but I guess the fact that you drive them sensible allows them to be factored in.

for the record, it did 1512 miles and used 319ltrs which I calculate to be about 21mpg.

For a car with a 6200cc engine 21mpg is pretty good.

Forget the costs, just enjoy it.

That is just about spot on for mine on a return trip to the Nurburgring last year. Enjoyed every single mile of it too...:thumb:

.
That's including 3 goes flat out around the track

costs?

no road tax, no VAT, 98RON 86p a ltr, free parking! what costs?:thumb:

35mph speed limit...
