Hi Chaps,

I'm looking and getting a new c63 coupe very soon and the dealer told me about a monthly service plan ' £43.00 per month. Want to know what other's thought if it.

The car will be on a 3 year contract so i will simply hand it back at the end of the period.

Is the anyone newish c63 that can let me know what they pay for actual services using mb. Anyone got any thoughts on the monthly £43.00, is it worth it or not ? It only covers services from what i understand.

How often does the c63 actually need servicing too ?

Any help and advice please gents.

Thanks

I'd pay as you go.

I did once take out full maintainance on a lease car I ordered through my business, mainly as it offered unlimited tyres and it was covering 25,000 miles a year.

They realised this was an error at some point and stopped offering it though.

I'd not bother with a service plan at £516 a year. I figure as you've bought a C63 you'll not be doing galactic mileage (unless your surname is Shell or Texaco) and you'll probably be better off paying as you go.

That's what i was thinking, its not my daily driver, anyone know what the real life services costs and what sort of miles they are required.

hello easyrog

i have a 2010 C63
i have covered 30,000 miles
first service was £180 + Oil which i supplied @ approx £65
second service £330 + Oil which i supplied @ approx £65

i was looking for a service plan at purchase but MB wouldnt offer it at the time
the car doesnt break down or incur any real additional servicing costs
it uses a litre of Oil every 4500 miles intially now more like every 7000 miles

your biggest cost will be fuel and rear tyres

the brakes are very good ive been on three track days - still no pad change MB say they are fine

in hindsight i would not have bought a service package

MB have also been very generous re warranty type claims giving me the benefit of the doubt on everything bar viking raids and witchcraft!

my car is not on a contract basis it was a gift i'll be keeping it a while unless i change my mind

that said a service plan is safety first and not too dear in C63 terms

rear tyres and fuel everything else is incidental:thumb:enjoy

great reply, and also amazed your allowed to take your own oil to mb. I will try this on my first service. wont be taking the monthly plan.

i was too but the good people of mbclub suggested it

it only saves a few quid but i think it shows the right attitude to servicing costs

to be honest the tyres arent a problem - i plan to try michelin supersports next they are reputed to have outstanding mileage

petrol is dear but the one single thing that i dont like is the range

250 miles on a tank isnt convenient:eek:

I wish they would bring back Service +

I used to own a Range Rover, 250 miles was pretty good going in that. Most of the time I made it around 180 miles before filling. It was a right nuisance.

It would make sense to offer a larger capacity tank in the AMG though.

I'd have one in a flash 80/90 litres would do nicely doubt it would affect real world performance, perhaps on paper thats all

on a track day at 8.3mpg i had to refuel after 75 miles:eek:....however i had to smile when my son said " Dad you knew this when you bought a racecar" (chortle)

My C220 does 500 to 600 miles on a 60 litre tank. It doesn't sound the same as a C63 though when I hoof it up a motorway slip road.

More Massey Ferguson than Maserati.

Mercedes could probably put the 350Cdi engine in a SLK, there was talk ages ago...with the 320cdi engine.

Trouble is could they have a diesal quicker than a petrol AMG...

Times are changing so I bet there will be soon.

I remember having a MX5 / Z3 and the range (due to small tank) was 250 / 300 miles. Flippin useless when in Europe especially when some fuel stops are 60km apart...

Love the fact I can fill up in Canterbury and get to Annecy on one tank in my current bus.

Enjoy your car though !!

Our C220 blue eff has the high capacity fuel tank (66l) that the AMG has, theoretical range is 700 miles.

If it has a 0-60 of ~4.5 seconds, revs to 7000rpm with a glorious 8-cylinder+ roar and ticks over with the rumble and crackle befitting an AMG then maybe it will happen. Diesel isn't quite ready to go in the top performance cars for many reasons:

1. sounds rubbish (this is important!)
2. turbo lag
3. engines weight affects handling
4. doesn't "feel" sporty (low rpms)
5. cheapskate image

Sort that lot out and you're on to a winner.

+1^ Just look at the bmw m550d reviews it is not a bad car but never a m5.

Does a V6 diesel weigh and more than a turbo V8 petrol. Bet not. Looked at 335i vs 335d. 40kg between them, not a lot

Hey Roger, good to see you made the right choice, just shout if you need any info mate, you will also find different dealers offer different service and purchase prices, so do shop around.

oh, and if you want to take the e55 for a spin just let me know (just dont tell P)

After a bit of reading it seems that some diesels now have aluminium engine blocks so the weight has been reduced by quite a bit!

Get to work on the remaining problems! :D
