MB Cardiff wouldn't do mine because it doesn't affect the performance of the braking system. I've also spoken to MB Customer Service who have given the same get out talk.
Finally managed to get through to them on the third attempt. Apparently there are no outstanding recalls our our 2011 pre-facelift but they are happy to charge £49 to run a full diagnostic check, how generous of them!
My brakes continue to squeal. After two failed attempts at a complaint and an escalation, the only thing I can think to do now is to attend their next vehicle marketing event and make a big deal about really wanting a new one but can't cope with the squealing brakes. After all, according to Mercedes the squealing isn't a fault so we must assume it's normal for Mercedes cars!!
So disappointed they won't see common sense on this.
This is a bit of a grey area. Firstly of cause it's not right that the breaks do this, especially on a car of this quality. But there are different reasons why breaks would squeal. Pads firstly. A hard pad used for track days would likely do it but the fact the oem mb pads are likely for normal hard ish road driving would rule this out. Glazed pads that have got very hot and cooled número use times would do it but I would say this can be ruled out to. And then there's knackered worn discs but guess that's a no no.
Some caliper/disc set ups transfer noise through viabration through disc to caliper kinda like a tuning fork the pitch could change or disappear at a certain speed. Due to the fact the calipers are so big on the c63 I would say the problem is the latter. Due to the fact this may not be a cheap quick easy fix I would've thought this is the reason the stealers are seriously swerving the fact that this is so common with the c63's it's got to be a fault. Just my opinion.
