C63 won't start

If it's the ECU failing would there be other symptoms?

Wouldn't start again this morning then did, love the car when it's running but I'm loosing affection for it now, anyone want a cheap C63

Is it out of warranty ?
Book in at local dealership/indie if yes and get it diagnosed ?

I have a warranty on it, and I've been through that route already, it's booked in again next week for a few days to see if the fault occures when it's with them, trouble is it's an intermittent fault, sometimes starts, sometimes doesn't and chances are it'll work perfectly whilst it's at the dealers. I'm really getting pi###d off with it to be honest, I think I'll go for a BM next time.

Leave with them untill they see the fault get a loan car to keep you mobile.

Tell them to submit a goodwill claim, worked a few times for me as far back as 2weeks back for a new SBC pump:D

I used to have a similar symptom in a Vito I owned. However that would also sometimes have the added complication of not allowing you to remove the key at all.

The dealer never solved it and it was actually suggested at one point it was a feature....I burst out laughing and that was quickly brushed under the carpet.

Would that be the "Keymore NoGo option", nothing infuriates me more than silly comments like that from specialists.

Reminds me of when T-mobile asked me if the problems with my mobile were caused when I was moving, as they cause problems when moving

Hopefully, they will find the fault this time when its in.

Check the voltage in the car battery.
Good point, the battery was showng 11V when I tested it originally, when the Roadside Assist did his STAR check it showed 11.6V I've had it on charge but it still did not start until the 6th turn of the key it did not even turn the engine over. I would have thought a low battery wouldn't show up as intermittent starting it would just turn the engine over slowly or was that just the good old days.

All sorts of weird things go on with a dead/flat battery, it should have at least 14.5 volts. put it on charge for 24 hours, then try it, bet you your problem will be gone ;)

Understand what you say but not sure about 14.5V, I checked the battery on our other cars, one is a new VW Passat CC it showed 12V the other is the GT40, not touched for 3 months, it showed 12V.

14v is the charging voltage, not the charge.
11.6v should be good to go as long as it can maintain something like that when cranking.

Mb tech here. First question is does the car open fine with both keys? Does it fail to start with both keys when it does fail? If it opens and won't start with both keys I'd 99.9% defo say it's the electronic steering column lock that's failing. Quite common on the 204. Unlikely to be the eis switch tbh as they work differently now to the older models.

Thanks, I hope you don't if I pass that info on to the dealer when I take it in.

No problem. As long as I ain't got to do it as they give mr neck ache lol tucked up round the pedals arms wraped round the column lol. Good luck all the best

Started fine this morning, checked the voltage with the engine running it showed 13.5v , engine off showed 11v

11V doesn't seem very strong. I always have > 12V in the morning.
That's what I thought, I wonder if that's the problem although it wouldn't explain the intermittent starting

C63 refused to start this morning, unlocked the car, turned the key, all lights on but nothing from the starter motor, I tried a few times but eventually gave up, then I thought maybe battery in the key so checked the voltage 3V on each cell so no problem there, went out and tried again and it started and has been fine ever since, it's going in for a diagnostic check on Monday to see if anything has been logged but before that happens can anybody shed light as to what the problem could be?

I had similar problem with my Audi it needed turning the key several times to 0 position before immobiliser allowed to start .IMHO immobiliser or EIS can't recognise the KEy fob from first time

I would have thought with engine running

14.6 v or so
Engine off 12.36 or so
