Calipers Painted

I think I have found a colour & finish that might look good for dark coloured cars. The paint is heat withstanding by VHT and the colour "burnt orange". Two problems though, finding a supplier in UK and all the prep work necessary since it is in spray only. On the photo below the owner has applied the burnt orange and then a clear (again by VHT) and it looks like it came out of a factory.

Coincidentally, I painted mine this weekend.
Just like Howard, a good wire brushing, and a thick coat of Hammerite (gold), as with the thickness of the spokes, I thought it could take it without looking too 'loud'

While the wheels were off, I cleaned the inside of the rims

Added some bling around the gear lever

And, though I say it meself, the cars starting to look pretty good!

Good question. I think is has to be able withstand high temps. Ask at Halfords, you might get lucky, someone may know.

I dont really wont to use a spay can, would prefer to use a paint brush

Thanks,
can you recommend a product I could get from Halfords?

Mine was bog standard gunmetal hammerite.

Don't worry about high temp paint , mine is still nice and stuck on , we aren't driving F1 cars .... ;)

You have a PM Howard !!

Got it , thanks Peter !!

Let us in, what's the secret?

Hahahahahah !!

Nothing like that ! Peter and I have known each other for ages and he'd sent me a PM and i'd forgotten to reply , so he was just trying to catch my attention ...

I have a memory like a sieve.

Hi all,

I have rust on the hubs and calipers.

The dealers are not interested and these items are not covered under warranty.

Therefore, I was thinking of improving them?

Firstly, could I sand off the rust and then coat them with a clear spray of some kind?

or secondly, should I paint them? I am unsure on the colour. I was thinking maybe gunmetal grey like Howard's? I would prefer to make them the original colour.

On the other hand, I was thinking will they just turn black if they are painted silver or gunmetal grey? Should I just paint them black?

Could some please provide some advice. I really would just like to eliminate the rust and bring it back to a factory finish.

The A-Class is 2 years old.

Thanks
