Can I lease this car?

"There is NO WAY any garage business, especially a one man one, can afford to buy and run a C55 from profits..."

One of the local garages near here is owned by one man. He has an S600 Bi turbo. His only trade is his garage.

I do think it is possible but I think I am jumping the gun.

I didnt mean that its not possible, just that it shouldnt be if you see what i mean? especially from a customers point of view...

if you can afford to, then keep it at home and use it at the weekends!

My own thoughts are that if you had an absolutely immaculate older Mercedes parked outside that shone like a new pin....... inside, outside and under the bonnet. Then that would speak volumes about your skills, dedication and pride in the marque.

Just my thoughts and if you want the latest all singing, all dancing vehicle, then it's your money and your business.

Good luck with the decision
John

i agree, hence i mentioned the W123...

Emma's Smart is sign written and is useful.

What age Smart do you have??? I am looking at trading a few.

they are on my site, ones an 03 and ones a 52..

just replacing two springs on the 52 plate one... completely OT, but what a pain, i mean how do you stop the shock from spinning while you undo the nut? Its a nightmare with the lack of space to work...

So very true, I noticed the down turn in business when I bought the 129, it might have been coincidence with the market. But I do not care anymore.

Yes If I wanted something doing somewhere I would question my wisdom if there was a super car parked out front, saying that, I would do the same if only a banger was parked.
I too think that a nice example of a older cheaper one would work in your favour, a nice 126 for instance or a 140

I agree with Glojo, television and jaymanek - a pristine older Merc (classic) would impress me much more than a flash C55..

Mind you I would love the C55...just couldnt afford the petrol bill...insurance...etc etc..lol:bannana:

I know a bloke who owns a garage. He has two other employees and can afford a new CLS63 and is selling his current house for £1 million and buying a new one for nearly £2 million.
He also does dodgy MOT's, cleans up stolen cars and 15yrs ago was ordered to pay nearly £500 thousand in unpaid VAT etc.
I dare say that it is a matter of time before the authorities catch up with him again and yet again he will lose everything and have to start from scratch again, being nearly 60 I doubt he will find it so easy this time.

If you do want to lease it - PM me I may have an option for you.

However you will be better IMHO with a new-ish less flash car.

Thats why I bought the C Class - its smart enough to say he knows what he's doing without being flash enough to say he's ripping us off...

Not quite sure on this one,

Cars nice although the second one why anyone puts a £50 irish plate on it? ooh and the spec says its a 4.2L

Not sure what wrong with having that sat outside your works? badge it up as a C200cdi if it make people think your not that 'flash'??

At the end of the day many new ordinary cars are way more than 30K and no one would think twice. Freelander for example,

If you want it and can afford it heck buy it, we are not here that long so enjoy what you can when you can.

:)

You can also buy a C4S for £30k, an old Ferrari etc etc etc

IMHO you want to give a respectable image.

I've seen alot of people make the mistake of buying a flash car only to regret it.

On the other hand if you do buy it - enjoy it! :D

I agree but if he spends time working on it then it's time he's not earning money.

It's tough getting the right car so that you look presentable but not over the top. We had our kitchen refitted by a local firm and the owner had a clean but older 5 Series which was fine. But we later found that his wife pops into his workshop when she's bored, driving a brand new Range Rover, and we felt somehow conned!

Life is too short to do without the things you want. That said, whilst the business is growing committing yourself to such an expensive luxury is a tricky one to justify now - but may be easy to do in just a couple of years time.

There was a suggestion of having Grav's car. An E55 (W210) might not be a bad idea, as it gives most of the performance (or in the case of Grav's even more), most of the fun, for a lot less outlay. It's also closer to that sweet spot around "this guy must be good as he's doing well for himself, but not making a mint from my poorly car".

OT - Can't see the SMARTs on your website Jay - maybe on page 3 though, which refuses to load??

Same reason I didn't get my kitchen done by the guy who came round to quote in a new Porsche Cayenne...

Thanks for the advice guys.

It is an interesting debate. I think I will wait a while before I make a decision about what car I buy.

mmmm 140........

<Shameless plug mode>

Or if I finally decide to change cars - my C32 would off a similar proposition as the C55 for a fair chunk less of the hard earned?

Saloon?

Yep thats the one. Its been around a bit I think.

I would tend to agree with some of the other comments on the site about it being a bit too flash for the business.

That is why I bought the A class, because its cheap to run, has all the toys (or will have!) and will be used for promoting the business. You bet I'd have had a C55 like a shot but the businesses are being invested in and turning up to modify someones car in an AMG doesnt give the right impression.

Its one of those head vs heart decisions! It took me about 4 months to decide! But I'm glad I made the decision I did.

Ignoring he issue of is it the right car or not, what about buying it as a personal car though a car loan which allows a final payment, thus keeping down the monthly costs, and charging the company for mileage. Much better and more efficient than paying company car tax!

Ollie,

Make me an offer.
