.........more later but someone has opened a door onto my rear nearside door :(

Sorry to hear that. Thats why I don't like leaving my car unattended in a car park unless I have taken up 2 spaces. Tescos is worse place for it. My former S Class was dented by some retarded woman slamming her passenger door into mine whilst I was sat inside the car. Eventually, I took her to small claims court (had legal cover but it was hard work) and witnesses and got all costs back for damage.

Sickener, how can you prevent this, it's almost impossible.I know you can park in a part that you think gives you the best chance of avoiding these nerds but it does'nt guarantee anything. Bad luck,I know how you're feeling.

I'm tempted to strip thedoors inards and do it myself.

ever noticed; if you park your car in a parking space well away from any other cars; some moron will park his old banger next to yours even tho there is loads of other wide empty spaces elsewhere.

Baaaa bara told me all about you ;)

Down here there is a moble specialist that takes out these small dents and scratches.

It is so annoying when people do this. I am sure its deliberate.

Good luck with your attempt to fix it.

I used to do that when I had old bangers, on the grounds that if mine was parked next to an expensive car, that would be the one the local lowlifes would steal for racing :D :D

Sorry to hear that some moron has dented your car.

For this same reason, I purchased an old ford escort to do the kids' run and supermarket shopping etc. I don't take my merc out unless I know that I am going to park it somewhere safe.

This does restrict the mileage that I do but when I sit in the merc, it feels wonderful.

tee hee - if I see some arrogant ***** has taken up two spaces with their precious car the devil in me makes me park as close as I can physically get to their drivers door.

Childish but funny and sometimes I just can't help it :)

Last time someone did that to my Mom's brand new MB must have regretted parking too close to it after I got my own back on them...

Why do peope ehave a problem with others tryign to protect their cars (prode & joy) from damage caused by ignorent careless people who smack their doors open into other people's cars?

I don't have a problem with people protecting their cars - i have a problem with people who think that because they drive an expensive car they have a right to more parking spaces than "lesser mortals" in car parks where very often space is at a premium

If the car is that precious to you - leave it at home

Let's not get away from the point of the thread - it's a shame, but it can be fixed and it's not the end of the world and hardly worth starting a tirade against everybody who you deem as unworthy of parking within 100 metres of your car.

Usually BMWs

Taking up two spaces is purely selfish though. Oh the motoring wrongs I could settle with an ancient landrover... :)

The worst ones are where they basically just can't park and they just leave one wheel or something over the line, VERY annoying! I take great pleasure in parking perfectly in the space they invaded knowing they'll need a tin-opener to get into their own car! There is no excuse for bad parking when it's SO easy to get it right.

Andy,

I respect what u are saying and like u said lets not get away from the point for the thread, but taking up 2 car parking spaces just to portect ur car from careless ignorent people from damaging your vehilce with their doors is nothing to do with one assuming others as "lesser mortals".

On a few occassions that I have taken my Sprinter to Tescos when it is busy because not wanting to risk damage to my cars I have found all the parking spaces next to its sides being deliberately vacant becasue people do no want their cars to be damaged from the big heavy doors on the Sprinter.

In Tesco's in Teddington, i have seen cars being ticketed because they are straddling two parking spaces.......

I think it's safe to say that parking spaces are pretty small these days - no-one parks next to the sprinter because if they did they'd not be able to get out of their car! ;)

If my wife can easily open the door of our cars parked next to my Sprinter when we meet for lunch sometimes during the day (parked in standard size parking spaces) then I don't see why other car doors won't be able to open? ;)

I think that very much depends on the spaces!

IIRC guydewdney said that the W140 CL is too big for a minimum-sized parking space.

"Length" wise the Sprinter will bulge out in a Standard Tesco parking Space but "Width" wise it is ok and my wife can easily open our car doors when getting in/out - as we have in past met for coffe/breakfast in the mornings a Tesco.
