Car park scrape

I always try to avoid parking next to 2 door cars too. The extra length of the door often leads to a ding.

I thought it was just me !!!!

Drives me bonkers, only dings on my car are from other people car doors, I've got one from what must be a 4x4 (its high up on my door) some 2 inches long must have been an almighty grerat thwack. I always try to park away from everyone else but theres always, always, something next to me when I return, I swear that if I parked on the moon someone would park right next to me, but hey ho!

Like crockers, I always try to avoid parking next to anything with large doors be they vans, 2-door cars, people carriers, or whatever. However, what baffles me is that many people seem to almost go out of their way to park as close as possible to my wife's SLK which not only has long doors but is low so you need to open them wide to get back in it...

Also, I fancy that deep in the human psyche there still lurks a strong desire to herd because I can park in an otherwise empty carpark,at one of the farthest places from the entrance, yet when I return to my car some ar$e has parked right next to it - in an otherwise empty carpark

Another update to this thread.
My car has been repaired. I went back to collect it yesterday, couple of slight problems.

You can see the repair when you look down the side of the car in reflection and the scrape on the wheel hadn't been attended to.
Took the car back to them today to complain when the foreman was there who looked and said he thought that it would block back to flat but may go through the paint. If it does they will repaint the rear quarter again and are going to repair the scrape on the wheel and repaint the wheel.

Shame it wasn't done right in the first instance but at least he was very happy to have the faults pointed out to him and is willing to fix them so I am happy.

We are currently going through a similar problem with OH's car. During the snow it was hit overnight- Large dent to rear quarterpanel. The other driver left a note with mobile number and first name . Tried ringing the mobile for the first two days afterwards and it was permanently off :rolleyes:

However, eventually spoke to the driver who stated that she had slid down the hill and had to get someone to "Push her off" the car (Steep hill). I duly got a very reasonable quote of £400 from a local bodyshop (I have subsequently received another quote of £800) and presented it to her, however magically 3 days later- And a week after the accident, she decided that she couldn't possibly have caused the large dent, it must have happened after she lightly hit our bumper without causing damage :wallbash:. Quite why she decided to leave a note when she'd "Left no damage" I am unsure.

She then went on to accuse me of insurance fraud  Have eventually extracted her details and the claim is going through now. Interestingly enough she hadn't informed her insurance company.

Karma's a b*&£h sometimes :)

Offtopic, but we just got rid of a quantum a friend gave to us. Quite random little cars!

I do the same , and often employ the tactic of seeking out an 'end' space - on the premise that my car can then only be exposed to risk on one side .

However , sometimes , if I spot another 'nice' Mercedes similar to mine in the car park , I will park beside it . If I cannot park away from other cars then I try to at least park next to what look like well cared for cars the owners of which are likely to be considerate towards mine .

If I have my son with me , and can legitemately use 'parent & child' spaces , I will sometimes use them - depending on the amount of space between vehicles and what I would be parking beside .

Gutted for you, I have recieved a letter from the plod this morning saying that someone has reported me for reversing into a parked car in a railway station car park. Time of incident is 1105 and they are asking who was the driver, and that I can be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention and failure to stop after an accident.
Now here's the good bit, when I came out from work that day (which is in the signalbox facing where my car was parked all day from 0700 until 1300) my rear passenger side light was smashed and a big dent under the light. I was gutted at the time but have now got cctv evidence from the station car park showing a silver car drive in then straight back out at this time and also my car go in at 0700 and come out at 1315.
My boss had also wrote a letter that states I cannot leave the signalbox as I have numerous trains to signal and it is impossible for me to leave the box and go for a drive.
I have spoke to the police about an hour ago and they said to send in this evidence and we will take it from there. I am absolutely fuming and hope they throw the book at these chancing fraudsters(can't put swear words on here). Sorry it was long winded.

Keep us informed on this one -- can't believe the cheek of some people
