Car Valuations

take my wife's car:bought for £16,000.
this is an ex-demo,we ,well i, bought it for her with 800 miles on the clock, its just had its 3 year service, and the mileage stands at 14,000
value ?£5000
what a load of rubbish

Sorry to tell you - they are making that money right now at auction

Average SALE price for a late 2004 is £4100 with 34k on the clock is £4100
At 14k miles it may actually make £5k - this may well be the price that the trade are actually willing to pay for your car.

i was gonna part ex for a freelander 2,she can whistle now :(
the reason its only done 14k is that it never has any petrol in it,where as my merc is allways full, she "nipped out" the other day to do a bit of shopping, wigan ?,manchester maybe ?,nope, she ended up in southport, many miles away

some traders will offer pathetic money for your car as a trade in, but when faced with an identical car at auction bidding against other traders, they would readily pay a good chunk more.

Supported. I was offered £2k for my Land Rover as a trade-in in 1999.

In 2003 my insurance company gave me £5k after it was written off.

Put my wifes Stilo in & it shows

The estimated retail price for this car is: £2,375 The estimated trade value of this car is: £860 3 Previous Owner(s)Now the top price is good as we only paid £1950 13 months ago but the trade in is horrific ,especially as I have been told the only cars traders are managing to sell are cars under 1.6 & under £2000 so £860 is a bit rough ?

These guides; and that is all they are, aren't making an offer on your vehicle they are only guides.

Don't be suprised if you get offered a bit behind the guide valuations.
I'm suprised there isn't a MB salesman on here doing his job and supporting the forum by giving you guys realistic valuations. I and I know a few others here work in the trade but I don't work for MB and I don't deal in them nearly as much as I'd like to, and unfortunately I couldn't any underwrites on any MBs but I'm sure someone on here could! They'd be the people to ask for valuations rather than relying on the information from these guides.

Having looked at a number of newer cars recently and having been offered "trade-in" valuations on our current car (2000 CLK convertible) I can verify that the trade value on freecarvaluations appears to be fairly accurate. This site values the car at £5,150 trade....we were initally offered a shade over £4000 trade-in by MB main dealer and a private dealer, but had the impression that they would go higher if pushed....we thought at the time that we could push it to nearer £5,000.

Therefore, appers to be accurate in the case of our car.

Guess I won't be trading in the new Audi any time soon!:eek::eek:

Low, low trade prices :) Retail wasn't far off though :)

Still, it's not all bad...

webuyanycar.com will buy your car for £720*

Just ran my C220 est avantgarde se through it (53 reg 47000miles). Says retail is £10,200 trade £7,100
I just gave a dealer £7500 and drove it away. He had it up for £10,100 for four months, rejected an offer of £8,300 six weeks ago and was glad to move it on.
This tallies with Parkers guide.
