As per the title, does anyone know of a car that has space for 3 child seats in the rear?
I know it will depend on the child seat, but in the first instance any solution will do.

Cheers.

Ps. This is not for myself :-)

W210 and W212 both have flat back seats and should be wide enough.

Sent from my iPad using MBClub UK

I've sat in the middle of a new A6 between two child seats and was very squashed, and i'm not exactly fat. Seems those seats take up more width than normal seats allow for. I've told my friend he needs a minibus!

There are, I believe, aftermarket adaptors which allow 3 isofix seats to be fitted to a standard rear seat, the adaptor isofixes to the car, then the seats isofix to the adaptor, might be worth a search

You can actually buy a triple child seat.

Everything else is a headache; I know, I've got three young children...

he's got a 2 year old now and in 5 months time will have 2 more - oh dear, it's game over as they say.

Not possible using isofix seats in my S212.

My brother in law gets three isofix seats in the back of an Avensis. There is a chap at work with three kids who bought a Grand Picasso but literally looks close to tears whenever the subject of cars comes up as it is so hateful! I'd go for the one piece jobbies mentioned by others on the thread.

He needs a vasectomy before he buys a car.

I specificaly bought my E Class as I needed a big Estate of which there is the grand choice of three.

5 series, A6 and the E.

I have a Car seat for a 2.5 year old, a baby Car seat and a 14 year old crammed in the back.

3 car seats in a row is virtually impossible if complying with Manuf's instructions.

Get a Viano!

I have a VW Passat and I get three car seats in the back. Kids are comfortable and the fuel economy is great. I have two Stage 2 seats and one Stage 1 seat in the middle. Plus the big boot is useful.

I'm afraid this in modern times is 7 seater time. You'd be hard pressed to find any car which will take 3 seats in a row.

He could go to a minibus, but that's probably overkill.

I would suggest, looking at the standard 7 seaters, excluding the Voyager which scores very badly in Ncap. The Espace we had had the 2.0 dci (important - not the 1.9 dci which has a turbo that let's go and a very inaccessible cambelt in the Espace), handled relatively well, drank fuel at 37mpg (my driving so could be more economical), and handled family journeys with aplomb. Just expect the dealers to be crap!

Espace is no longer produced in RHD.

Galaxy and S-Max also well written about.

A friend of mine runs a Honda FRV with three kids and gets on very well with it. Not an MB but seems like a good car for a larger family.

Cheers all. I should have added that I imagine he's looking for a car in the £5-10k corridor and most likely be a diesel - also open to most decent marques.

My W211 saloon would not take three wide, nor would our Micra, I doubt that many will. However, my Sons Fiat Multipla was made for the job with its three individual seats. Excellent car of you have lots of sprogs to transport about, it's like a Tardis inside.
My CLS was bought knowing it could only ever take two rear occupants!

A Honda CRV will take 3 child seats, and does 40 mpg, and will not get stuck in the snow.
But not as nice to drive as a Merc.
