Cat D cars? And advice sought re second car

Thanks for the comments and feedback.

I realise that a Skoda makes sense on a number if levels, but it's just not me.

I do need a car with a certain amount of image, and perhaps the S211 could do that, I will search. But a decent Audi or BMW is still looking most likely.

cat D sounds out of it too, as there's potential for risk there and given that my budget should extend to a non cat D car that meets my needs, I hope I will be OK.

I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks
Tim

For reliability and a very good car, £6k will buy you a 2009-2010 Skoda Superb 1.9tdi which is far more reliable than the other cars you are thinking of.

You obviously take a bit of a knock on the 'prestige' thing but if you want old fashioned German reliability without the price tag, Skoda is the way to go.

My 2002 E46 BMW 320D touring (170000mls) needed its first light bulb last year, and it doesn't sound like a VW tractor........... Its long term mileage consumption gives 51.6mpg too, and it's still on her origional Bosch battery. Most reliable car I've ever owned.

My E320 cdi has just returned from an expensive repair and has yet to pass 34000 miles...............

Thanks for all the guidance and advice.

I have now bought a Lexus rx300 from Ian via this forum.

And despite some battery issues, I'm very happy the purchase.
