cheap dell pc

I got mine yesterday and its great. Very fast and quiet. Thanks a lot mercman. I owe you a beer sometime!

Ordered another today, albeit for a much higher price. I got a few extras this time like 10,000rpm drives. :-)

Interestingly I had to speak with Dell on the phone to try and get the monitor removed from the deal. When speaking with the lady in Ireland, she realised that the website price was still wrong, but only by £50-100.

She told me it would be the higher price, so I hung up on here and immediately ordered online to get the price.

Getting the monitor though - anyone want to buy it cheap?

I thought I was a gadget freak??? What do you do with all these computers! :D

You don't want to know... Every cupboard in my 1 bed flat is full of technology!

Dell were great about the next machine..... After being quoted a delivery time of 01/04/05, the machine arrived on 18/04/05. My intercom wasn't working so I missed the delivery. Popped up to TNT's Barking warehouse and collected it.....

Got the machine home and it does what I need it to do - NOT MAKE ANY NOISE. Oh the pleasure of my laptop, mac and pc all now silent. :-)

The 10,000RPM WD Raptor drive is vvvvvvvvvvvvvvery ffffffffffffffffffffast. Really glad I got it. Also picked up a Pioneer 109 16x DVD burner for £43 yesterday and a 300GB 7200rpm 16mb cache SATA drive for £125 to pop in it.

Unfortunately the motherboard has only one PATA channel which is 50% consumed by the DVD burner, so any hard disk additions will have to be through SATA, which is a bummer as I have about a terrabyte of PATA drives around the house.

This machine is turning into a monster! Just need some kind of video capture/tv/pvr thing now.

So now we know you are using the computers to build your time machine...

 :p :D

Cheers
