The car has got a full AMG styling package, front and rear bumpers and the correct exhaust. This has looks as though it was AMG kitted from new, the cost of doing all of this after the fact would run into a few thousand.

The APS50 to COMAND upgrade is not very difficult, you can get the head unit and dvd drive for £450-500 on ebay, and the aps should sell for £200.

Looks like a nice car, Id be tempted on the spec alone!

Its is modelled as an elegance and specced up - why not avantgarde and specc'd up?

Nothing wrong with that.

If I recall correctly Elegance and Avantgarde models were typically the same price when new. The only difference was that Elegance was supposed to be more luxorious (read wood trim and softer suspension), wheras Avantgarde was supposed to be sportier in appearance and appeal to a younger market (read aluminimum / black wood trim and lower firmer suspension).

AMG body styling was an option on both trim levels and indeed you could specify lower suspension on an Elegance and wood trim on Avantgarde's etc. There are literally thousands of spec combinations.

My W203 is an Elegance with full AMG Styling (although we retrofitted the kit). It's down to personal choice which people prefer.
