Cheapest fuel for years............

As a matter of interest does anyone know how much petrol was last time oil was $50 a barrel?

No ... but I think you would need to know the dollar/pound exchange rate at the same time, to make any comparison.

Shell Citi credit card

Once through the introductary period it's 3p rebate per £1 spent on Shell fuel and oil, and 1p per £1 on any purchase anywhere (providing you've bought Shell fuel at least once during that charging period (month).

Rebate applied directly to your statement. So if a charging period (month) you spend such that you're entitle to a £8.82 rebate, the £8.82 will be subtracted from the amount outstanding.

Shell Drivers Club card

The rebate is 1p per litre of Shell fuel and oil.

I opted for a quarterly rebate which previously arrived in the form of vouchers in increments of £2.50 (500 points IIRC) - not discount vouchers, like gift vouchers really.

This month they've switched me to an automatic credit to my Shell Citi credit card, presumably because the transaction cost to them is cheaper. Suits me, as long as I get my rebate.

Shell have led from the front in Derby 88.9 the rest had to follow (Asda/Sainburys ect:)

They are consistently cheap round here. TBH I'd happily pay a slight premium for branded fuel anyway, so to get it at the same price (or even less) than the supermarkets is a bonus.

*sigh* wish Diesel would come down in price. I was in Holland at the start of this week - under a euro per litre for diesel (and these were motorway prices)

Yup.

It's cheaper to go out in my SL500 (even running on V-Power) than the Vito!

The excuse the fuel companies use for the high price of diesel is "a lack of refining capacity", that since the upsurge in the popularity of diesel cars they can't make sufficient fuel to keep up with demand.

So where are all the queues at the black-handled pumps? Has anyone noticed a shortage of diesel? Smells like a herd of bulls has just passed through and left something.

The difference I saw today at Texaco was 16p a litre.... thats 72p a gallon...jeez...

Mmmmm...

I've noticed that Tesco are the worst offender regarding the differential as well. Not only that, but the Sunbury branch, which used to have the cheapest fuel in the area, is now on a par with BP which is the most expensive.
