Seems like someone borrowed a stereo once and left screwdriver marks on that bit of wood trim that goes around the ash tray. A new part costs  so does anybody know a good guide to restoring furniture or wood trim on the net?
Looks like it could done, a bit of brown enamel plus lots of varnish should sort it out but I don't really want to experiment :)

Be interested to hear comments on this and/or cheap(?!) suppliers of new console/ashtray/cuphoder cubby bits.

Any ideas?

French polisher would be able to do it, if its like the trim on mine its layered wood stuck onto metal, with a laquer coating.

Do you do any wood working ? or do you know what type of wood it is?
Is it a piece of solid wood or is it a venneer that is scracthed. Or is it just the lacquer that is damaged?

Looks like solid wood. It has thick, 0.5 mm dark lacquer coat which is damaged. Don't know anything about wood so can't tell what kind it is. A patch 5mm x 5mm approx. is missing and there are a few cracks as well.

KLP had his wood refurbished on his 560SEC by a company.

why dont you look on ebay for someone breaking a car the same and buy the wood off them,, i did for only a few quid
