CL 600 2001 "Y" Plate. Things to look out for and advice.

Just because something is on offer, that does not mean you have to take it .

I think that it is quite appropriate for people to suggest declining such an offer and provide their opinion that perhaps a CL500 might be a better choice. :)

Agree. And there are a lot more to choose from, of course. There is a useful website offering a goodly choice of CL's with sensible miles -around £20k seems the right ballpark for ASKING prices of 2000/2002 CL500's.

This site links in to loads of franchised and independent sellers of Mercs.

Love the CL. The old model will be a classic IMO. Gorgeous and some wonderful value out there. Sadly for some, Mercedes rather over-produced at the end of the line and some dealers were selling nearly new ones for over £20k off list. But means bargains are out there.

If you can run to the extra few grand, 2003 production were galvanised (all steel panels).

These are the face lift models must be one of the nicest cars ever made, these in my view just have the edge if you can go to it
Or should we say one of the nicest mass produced modern Mercedes. :) :)

I totally disagree though about the 500. I respect everyone's reasons for saying it, but if I could afford the 500, then I would get the 55AMG, there is so little difference in price, but the difference in vehicle is :D :D

The CL600 was the flagship and if this poster wants a 600 then so be it. I wonder who the first owner was?

The NA 55 is quite a bit more expensive - and finding one isn't that easy.
Don't know about the NA, I bow to you on that, but once you go above £22000 then according to Autotrader current adverts your in the realms of the CL 55AMG
