Hi everyone, I am in need of some advice from some one with a good knowledge of the mercedes audio systems.
I want to have my Apple I phone linked via bluetooth into my car and use the controls on the steering wheel with the phone book showing on the centre cluster.
I also want to be able to plug my iPod in to the car and select the track with the steering wheel controls.
My car is an 09 plate, however I think its as an 08 model and was registered in 2009 meaning it has the older style audio 20 head unit installed (the one with the black and white screen and CD slot at the bottom of the screen).
I have spoken with several people about this including Mercedes and had conflicting advice.
Mercedes tell me they can sell me the bluetooth kit including the antenna and microphone for £350. But I don't know if I will need the car re-coding after this. And i don't know how difficult it will be to install it- does anyone have any experience of fitting one?
Mercedes also tell me it is not possible to fit the iPod integration kit- which I do not think is right.
I have also spoken with a company who will fit both kits (the bluetooth not being genuine mercedes parts) for £700, which seems really expensive.
Finally, I have one other idea. I have found the newer model audio 20 head unit with bluetooth for sale (with the colour screen) for £350. If I was to buy this would it be compatible with my car?! and what additional parts would I need?
If you have any ideas or contacts of people who may be able to offer me cheaper options, please advise.
Thanks in advance-
Greg
