Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the screen on my Comand. The screen looks like it is very lightly scratched, probably due to someone using a slightly abrasive cloth, and can only be seen against a dark background and when the Comand screen is off.

The dealer recommended Brasso but I am not so sure.

Thanks

David

Brasso-was he having a laugh?I use a glass wipe followed by a wipe with a lint free cloth & it keeps the screen clean & scratch free.:)

I have used Brasso on a scratched laptop screen but this had a hard finish not soft like the Comand screen, I would be very careful. They may have meant Brasso Gadget Clean but i did not think that it removed scratches??

I use the wipes designed for monitor/television screens by AGFAPHOTO

Perhaps he thought you said windscreen:dk:

I think what the OP is asking is rhetorical i.e. his screen is already scratched?

Mine is scratched. I am toying with the idea of trying a screen protector type film in the vain hope it may just hide the light scratches.

Has anybody done this?

Some suggest vasoline is good for hiding scratches. Anyone want to be a guinea pig?

I will pay for the vaseline if you wish to give it a go?. As an aside, Brasso will remove scratches from all sorts of things (including Glass) but,as above, not a soft screen.

I must admit to using ceramic hob brite on my scratched screen and took all of the coating off as had a lot of scratches and looks like new and have not experianced any problems with the sunlight or screen being too bright.

I did get a few samples from a tinting company that I intended to place as a screen protector but the finish without the coating is so good you would not notice.

Regards

I don't think I would use Brasso on my Command screen. Use normal laptop screen cleaner wipes, not the alcohol based ones though - they can cause the surface of LCD screen to de-laminate and bubble. Same goes for large screen TV's. Use the non-alcohol based cleaners and microfibre cloths.

In the end I got the screen clean and scratch free with just normal LCD screen cleaner. The scratches were very light and not really scratches at all and just polished out.

Hi Markedes - Can I confirm that the ceramic hob brite did actually get the scratches off the screen?

Yes, as it is like a glass cleaner for ceramic hobs etc, removed without any problems.
