Hi all,
Apologies for this being my first post but I am trying to help my mother fix a problem on her CLK 320.
The key will no longer turn in the ignition and so won't start the car - I have searched and read a few threads about this but just want to check I have tried all I can before calling a Merc specialist.
I have located the spare key and this will not turn in the ignition either.
Both sets of keys can remotely unlock the doors, boot and open/close the windows. However when placed in the ignition they simply won't turn.
I don't hear the usual sound associated when placing the key in the ignition so I am assuming the car is just not recognising the keys for some reason?
Things I have tried so far:
Tryed the keys numerous times, locking/unlocking and trying again etc.
Disconnecting and re-connecting the battery
Using a screw driver to allow me to move the gear selector from park down to drive and back to park incase it was a gear selector sensor.
The car was used daily so I am assuming the battery is fine.
Any advice would be welcome!
Many thanks,
Glyn
