CLK 63 AMG / SLK 55 Brake Upgrade - Almost there

Excellent Mod Ossie.

When am I fitting the SC kit then.........?

Thanks. Hi Olly, I am negotiating at the mo on the SC, but held up due to the Kleemann V8 headers made for LHD cars only so require modifying so i am not happy. Steen at Kleemann UK is holding onto a set for me, however i am still concerned as they are loud, and given that i already have Kleemann header on my C200K, i really don't want 2 loud cars so may just go ahead with the Kleemann SC if the price is right, and yes i made a promise that you will be fitting the SC for me - don't yet know whether i need to uprate the suspension. Any suggestions?

Thanks Tudu - seeing your post spending 3 grand on a brake upgrade makes me feel better spending a few hundred quid on maintenance!!

Thanks. Still think its cheaper that buying a C63 right now.

Here are my calipers on an E55 after 50,000 miles - I think they look amazing considering the mileage.

Nice Mod

I read somewhere that the AMG calipers turn a (permanent) golden colour when they have been worked really hard e.g. track work (the 'Ring etc)??

So if i get fed up with the silver, i can get it on the track and change to gold if i wish - i like.

clk black series uses much bigger front calipers than the normal clk 55amg.

the pad area is approx 140% of the standard clk55 amg (ie 40% bigger).

they cost 220 quid a set plus vat from the stealer.

they also dust really badly.

From about 2004 on you could choose to have the mahoosive 6 pot brakes on the CLK 55 too... I had one in recently and the discs are £600 each from the dealer and pads are £200.

A pity that Tutu's photos in his first posts have been removed and are not viewable :o I would love to see them... :thumb:

yeah, me too, i'd have liked to have seen the pics :)

I'm also curious as to why the SLK55 rear choice, and not the ones that match the 63 ? - scratch that, my lak of experience showing there, it seems they where the matching rears !

Not a thread revival just wanted to ask tudu to confirm which pads are required for this set-up as I am the new owner of the car and it's going into Olly for new front pads next week?
