CLK AMG Alloys, extended wheel bolts, is this normal?

I have 18'' AMG 5 spoke wheels fitted to my 2006 CLK 350 convertible and found out when purchasing a new set of wheel bolts they are extra long as the standard size bolts are about 10mm too short.
Is this because these wheels which came with the car are from a different model or is extended bolts normal on these wheels?

I'm guessing it is due to the width of the rear wheels - but I have no technical info & don't know how long my bolts are...

When i went to have a wheel refurb the guy tried to sell me some other AMG rims from an E class but when he tried to fit them to show what they would look like me the bolts were too short so maybe to do with the thickness of the wheel centre/hub.

Long Wheel Bolts

Hi, I had a set of 18" AMG wheels fitted to my CLK 209, I had to have longer wheel bolts as the existing bolts were to short. I also had to fit hub centric spacers as well to clear the suspension and inner bodywork.
I have since removed them as I was not happy about driving the car with the spacers on. So have put on CLK after market wheels back on with the shorter wheel bolts. If fitting longer wheel bolts check they do not protrude into the hand brake mechanism.

Were the 18" AMG wheels from a CLK or off another Merc, what's the offsett on them?

The 209 "sport" package which has the AMG III 18" wheels as standard has extra long wheel bolts - and - a set of "short" bolts for the space saver spare wheel (In a dark grey box)

If it helps the tyres sizes are: front 225/40/18, rear 255/35/18

What HD says.
Those wheels are from the AMG sport and should be fine on yours with the longer bolts.
Also looks like you have the sport spec callipers and discs......

Note to self: do something about the rusty bolts on my wheels......

With all the wheel options I've fitted to my 209, I've found that aftermarket wheels require the same length all round but genuine require longer rears due to the hub depth and offset being different to the front.

Also you have to be careful not to fit too long a bolt in the rear as it will catch on the handbrake shoes. Front doesn't matter too much.

I am waiting for new bolts to arrive through the post.

Ive read this thread and there is no description as to the length of the CLK 209 Sport wheel bolt length.

Does anyone know this as I need some

Thanks

Tony

Probably too late now with this info.

My wheels are AMG 18'' on my CLK but the nuts were in a sorry state so I ordered some on Ebay and in the picture is what I received with my correct old rusty bolts against the new incorrect size ones.
After receiving two incorrect sizes, as the supplier was very confused on what size I needed as they are not a standard size, the third set of bolts were OK.
Correct bolts for these wheels in my case are 40mm thread.
