CLK Glovebox won't close

Please help; recently bought a 2006 clk and glovebox won't close. Have read a few posts and tried adjusting rubber stops. Latch seems to move back on closing and can be pulled out slightly. The lock itself when the handle is pulled only lifts a lever - tested rotating plastic parts to locked position while glovebox open and pulling handle and lever just lifts and does not release. Have photos if helps?

sorry for picking up an old thread but i have this problem aswell..

how do you fix this problem anyone?

Mine has been like this since new. For the last 7 years I've had to give it a good slam to get it to shut.

how exactly mate?

I've had a little play about with it and there isn't anything you can really adjust..

cheers :thumb:

Theres also the little piston/clip on the side which can cause grief.

On a W209 Coupe undo the slam plate from the glovebox via the single torx head screw (T20 i think) beneath the slam plate (use a torch as its difficult to see and if you have a CDC fitted it may need removing first to reveal the screw). With the plate removed stick it into the bottom of the locking mechanism on the glovebox door (not the top part with the moving lever!). If it catches you will see that a clasp grabs the bar on the slam plate which can't be seen unless the bar is pushed into the clasp. If its working ok then you know its just an adjustment issue, so replace the slamplate and protrude it out of the glovebox trim of by about 2mm. It should work correctly now. Fit a star or spring washer under the screw to help lock it in position more securely. Hope this helps someone with their glovebox not closing.
