CLK W209 Illuminated Kick Strips

Have just fitted some aftermarket illuminated kick strips and am now looking at where to wire them in?

I thought of piggy backing the puddle lights but found no way in to the door jam loom conduit

Must be an easier way, anybody help???

The official MB procedure involves taking a live feed from a spare fuse on the rear SAM and connecting to the door switch for the earth connection. If you want pdf copies of the official procedure, then PM me your email address.

For a simpler install, I would hope one of the more experienced guys (Killerhertz?) may be able to tell you of a suitable live feed in the side cable conduits which you could connect into, again using the door switch for your earth when door opened.

PS The MB procedure uses a 7.5 amp fuse for powering both sills.

Cheers, on another note could you please tell me what the small red/orange coloured light that lives on the underside of the rear view mirror is? It seems to be permanently on?

Apparently its an ambient light for the central switches, similar to BMWs, although much dimmer.

It goes off when the car (canbus really) shuts down some time after you have closed the door, so it always appears to be on when you are in the car or have just got out.
