CLK430 to 55 with gearbox?

From what I understand it is.

You have to know bosch coding though. There's not many people I'd trust to tamper with my ECU so they would need to come highly recommended, with graphs and dyno data! :D

From what ive seen of the classifieds and read in reviews low mileage CLK's are becoming a bit thin on the ground. imo if its a minter it seems like sacrilege and alot of money and work to convert it to a 55. I totally get the wanting personalize and get more grunt tho. Have you considered tuning the 430 unit? There are quite a few upgrades out there for the 430. I could be wrong but im sure that Kleeman do a kompressor conversion for it and there is some video's on youtube of a company that have even done some sort of turbo conversion too.

If they are unmappable, why do companies offer remapps for them, and it would,nt just be the 430 that is unmappable.
There are no more/less sensors on a 55 engine than a 430, in my case there was additional emission control but these have simply been left in place (to be blanked off at a later date.
In the case of a 430 engine these additional sensors are present.
There is nothing mystical in the AMG ECU of this age any adaptation it "might" do is a fundamental function of all this era of MB cars.
A generic mapp (that has been thoroughly researched and tested and set up for the specific car) will be as good if not better than the original mapp.
TCU's are not coded to the chassis and not easily remapped.
A sprint booster has no direct influence on the TCU, all it does is recalibrate the throttle potentiemeter, this changes the amount the throttle body opens in relation to the amount the throttle pedal was depressed a product of this is the car is inheritently driven harder and the TCU adapt to this.
IMO a sprint booster is a waste of money and makes no difference to BHP or Torque performance of the engine.

Wow, I've really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons here eh!
I'm very aware that low mileage examples are getting pretty rare. Given that I only do a handful of miles a year, mine should stay that way for some time, most 10yr old cars over here only have about 30k miles on.

I guess a call to Olly is going to be in order today to clear a few things up. I know there are other options, charging, tuning etc, but all of these would require changing the ecu about too, so if I can do it for that, I can do it for an engine change!
Adding a piggyback to control fuelling and road tune is a suprisingly cheap and accurate way of doing things if required. I've done it to a few jap cars int he past.

I'm no just gonna give up on this, I'm going to carry on doing the research, speak to Olly, and report back on the progress so everyone knows the answers. If the only way to find out is to try then so be it!
If it doesn't work, I can just swap back and sell the motor on!
