CLK55 cold air feed for £8

True but you can't see most of it once fitted! reduced temp by just over 60%

Wow , you're aggressive aren't you ?

Who's having a laugh about it ? If you mean kowalski , i'm sure you are aware that he isn't uk based , and hence his english isn't always quite correct. I'm sure he wasn't having a pop , but anyway , i'm sure financenick appreciates your support.

What i like about it is that the OP took the time to measure the temperature before fitting it , because as we all know , the science proves the point. :thumb:

To the OP , Could you take a temperature reading with it fitted please , so we can see just how much it drops the temperature from the 183 ( C or F )?

i wasn't laughing about this mod
if it works i will try to do this mod on my own car to reduce the heat

how many rolles are needed to complete everything?

Is it not 73.2 as 60% of 183 is 109.8?

What do you make 60% colder than -10°C, then, or 50% hotter than 0°C?

To quote percentages of temperatures with any vaguely reasonable meaning, you have to convert to Kelvin before doing the maths to ensure you're based on absolute zero. 183°C is approximately 456K, 60% colder is about 182K (coincidentally), which is about -91°C.

Just being a science pedant. :D

Interesting reading best I go back to school :-) I would imagine the op has worked it out like us mere mortals through but I might be wrong.

Am I alone in wondering if all the heat which gets reflected back towards the engine will cause any problems down the line?

Nope....I was wondering. On the face of it it looks like a good cheap mod...but as you say, might there be problems down the line?

think you may be over thinking this, ill put it really simply - the airbox unit now gets roughly half as hot as it used to, this meaning the air running through it - is also cooler. Maybe you should try it, or not - up to you, but was nice to share my cheap mod with you all.

jeez, forums aint changed a bit :wallbash:

how sticky is the glue residue back of the aluminium foil?
will it fall off from heat?

extremely sticky, should be fine as wont get got :)
is designed to be in hot places

I wasn't bashing the mod - if it works, great and it's cheap. I wonder why MB didn't do something similar as standard though.

My point was a bit of pedantry - "half as hot" doesn't mean what you think it does.

You may be able to get that tape cheap from a DIY store as an accessory to that silvered bubble wrap loft insulation stuff. Probably worth checking it at high temperature first though , to make sure the adhesive doesn't burn.

well I've just ordered my tape off the same guy on ebay just from reading this, and its buy one get one free plus price is only £3.99 now :)

Interestin and tempting all at the same time

same principle for a 43 I assume

What a great finding. Practical and cheap, well done.
This is THE reason to have forums!
