Not really I just want something that's a diesel fast and reliable while getting good mpg.Is the 3rd seat in the rear important to you? If so the CLS may not be for you.

Thanks for the reply Kenny I'm thinking about 5-6k budget automatic I was thinking bmw 330d 2008-09 I've always loved mercedes I want something with a v6 and reliable e350 c320 Cls320 all around 2008-2012Thought about an X-drive 335D / 435D , should tick all the above boxes and beats the MB in all the required departments , hands down.
If it was my coin and it had to be a Merc then a CLS350 wins hands down in the beauty contest , normal running costs and reliability should be similar between both of your options.
With any car 10 -12 years old then its pervious lifestyle / service history / owners will be more of a factor in the reliability stakes.

I believe the CLS is essentially an E in a pretty dress, so underneath is basically the same. Therefore, just as reliable as any other Merc of that era.Is the e class reliable though I've had a dodgy mercedes c200 w204 2007 om646 that's cost me a bomb
I've seen it advised to get the seals done if having a turbo changed because of that. I also hear the swirlflap control rods are prone to break due to being plastic. A metal upgrade is about £80 to buy.The 204 c class with the om646 is about as reliable and bullet proof as a Mercedes gets. What problems did you have?
Later 4 cylinder models with the om651 are much less robust. The v6 om642 is robust enough; the one issue with the v6 is the oil cooler seals - to get to them involves many hours of labour stripping out everything in the "V". The cost to do the seals at an indi is £800 minimum. If you buy the e class estate the rear air suspension will need fixing at some point, budget £1,000 to sort it properly.
Bought well these cars are superb, bought badly and taken to the wrong place to be fixed they can be a nightmare.
My current drive is an E350 CDi, 265hp engine. Registered March 2011 so pre-facelift. I bought it August 2014. It's a fantastic car/engine. Cannot speak highly enough of it.Is e350 2008-2012 reliable in Two minds cls 320 or e350
Thanks for the reply jukie if I'm to get one I'm gonna make sure it has full mb service what is the mileage on your e class now?My current drive is an E350 CDi, 265hp engine. My daily commute is 27 miles each way, about 20 of which are at a steady, legal cruise on the M6. I average upper 40s mpg to and from work.
It's very relaxed, smooth, refined and quiet for a diesel. Put your foot down and it goes well enough.
I have it serviced annually by a local, respected indie and they MOT it too. No mention yet in my ownership of any bodywork issues, subframe or otherwise.
The car has never let me down and has not cost me much at out with servicing/MoT costs. I've done about 77k miles during my ownership. I still haven't changed the brakes! Changed the tyres for the second time last August.
All four springs have been changed because they broke in pairs (not at the same time). I can't think of anything else that's been needed though I'd need to check my invoices to confirm.
Maybe I've been lucky with it, bought from MB Coldstream who supplied it to the original owner.
Just under 108k. I have PM'd you also. Thanks for the reply jukie if I'm to get one I'm gonna make sure it has full mb service what is the mileage on your e class now?
