CLS 2006
Hi I just purchased a 2006 CLS!

Just realised that the tail light bulbs are soldered onto the board, was wondering where I can get this part from as it seems very hard to source them.

Or perhaps I can do an LED tail light conversion instead (after reading through a thread here :D )

Thanks!

I just got quoted £30 for the part. Woop woop! Now, to sort out that nasty condensation! (probably why the bulbs gone kaput)

Thanks for that, 2 of mine on the passenger side had blown, ordered the panel led plug in hopefully not a mission to change! £34.92 inc MB Loughton

I've been searching the net, does anyone know if it's a sealed unit, if it is looks like abit of a nightmare ( well for my spannering skills ) haha

please post pic of replacement part when it arrives .. am intrigued what it is that is replaced.

Of course, so am I, must be viable or they wouldn't be selling the part seperate. Fingers crossed.

theres quite a bit of water slushing around the tail light casing, it's almost like a swimming pool in there. And @MWCLS yes, this would be my first foray into seeing how mercs design their cars so that they make it as hard as possible for us DIY guys.

Do you mean the panel for the LED brake lights? That's just a separate little board obviously above the one with the soldered HiP bulbs for the other lights.

Jobs easy...you just have to take out a load of the boot trim to get to them as they're not expected to fail(!).

Start with the long plastic panel with the boot lock in it and then remove the carpet panels which come out with a lot of tugging and go back with a lot swearing. Most of the screws holding the lights are obvious but there is one in the side panel that you may have to move bits out of the way to get to depending on what lit your car has.

Had to have one of mine out to remove a fly!

No water in mine or flys haha, yes it's the nsr brake led panel (2 failed leds)I've found a DIY on the net as B1g1an says pulling the rear plastics out and side carpet panel unbolt 5x8mm bolts. Disconnect, light out, hoping it will just be a case of pulling the offending section out and putting the new one in.

Well... That's the plan!

Does anyone think it necessary to disconnect the battery whilst doing this? I don't want any fault/errors been thrown up.

I left my battery on and turned off the auto lights with no errors.
